Month: September 2021

Poor Ellie wasn’t well in the night. I came down twice to let her into the garden and she just lay there, so I called her back in. In the early hours she was barking at my side of the bed and also scratching my arm! Again I went downstairs with her and she stood by the front door. Mal had to take her across the road to the field. If it is messy she never wants to do anything in the garden, she is a very clean dog. Armed with a torch and poo bags Mal took her and sure enough she had a very bad stomach. After all that at 2.30am we all managed to get a bit of sleep!

We took her to the allotment in the morning. It was surprisingly warm. As you can see in one of the photos, a whole new housing estate being built right next to Mal’s allotment. They have even tried pinching some of the allotment’s grounds….they didn’t get away with it. We have loads of courgettes and squashes, of course masses of runner beans and the black kale which I love is doing well.

Later I went to Birchington to the butchers to buy two more turkey breast rolls to go into the freezer, they are so good! They still have quite a few left.

Thankfully Ellie’s tummy had settled by the end of the day.

We went to the park with Ellie and walked round with our coffees.

For lunch I met up with the Hatters. Twelve were supposed to be coming but only 7 turned up!

Julie loved her all day breakfast!

I walked Ellie early and we walked over the fields for a change.

The heating engineer came  and managed to replace the PCB on the boiler……success it worked! That’s good news as we thought we may need a new boiler. All done under the insurance.  He told us the struggle they are facing now trying to get hold of parts, so it’s good it has been repaired.

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon while I cleaned all the conservatory out, quite a few sneaky spiders. I can never kill them as they eat the mozzies!

It is still warm but autumn is here…….

Ellie enjoyed rolling in the crunchy leaves!

Down to Westgate Bay with Ellie but the seaweed is covering half the beach and stinking, as it does along this coast in summer!

We sat at the cafe with a coffee after the beach. A couple walked by with an English Bull Terrier and he smelt someone’s bacon sandwich, so he just spread eagled on the ground and refused to move. Finally, after trying to drag him they went into the cafe and bought a sandwich!  Dogs know exactly how to get round their owners.

We ate out at Secret Spices in Margate, a place we have been meaning to try for a long time. We had nice food and it was good having somebody else cooking the Sunday meal for us.

Another nice day so we took Ellie to Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens. Ellie had lots of dogs to play with and was running in and out of the stream with another goldie.

I have to say that while we were there, it is the first time we have noticed that autumn has begun! Brown leaves dropping from the trees.

A rubbish Spurs game in the afternoon BUT Emma made up for it in the tennis!
