I was up at 5.30 and seeing as it was only 27 degrees (later in the day around the 40’s!), I decided to go for a walk around the village. It’s a lovely time of day. I saw one of the ladies from the village going for her morning walk as well, so we had a brief chat in Turkish. Very brief in fact as I seem to have forgotten a lot of my Turkish! It’s not quite the same walking without a dog.

Back home and Mal had woken up, so we went to Ileli to get some shopping. They are so nice in there, it is a pleasure to shop there. Cyprus Today.

Water rationing has started again! So, on our way back we called in to Alsancak Beledeyesi. We enquired what was happening with the water supply seeing as we have our own waterfall in the village. Their reply “It is summer, maybe it will be there in a day or two”!! Very helpful.

Lemar now have a covered area in the car park!

No internet first thing, David and Kenny had it so we tried all the usual problem solving, not us. Mal called Multimax and it was soon back on! No idea why it had been off.

Happy 14th Birthday to Tariq! Of course we called him first thing in the morning, he was waiting to open his presents as River and Sol were out on a run. So, River is still keeping it up! They are all going out for a meal for Tariq’s birthday.

A very Happy Birthday too, to both my nieces Julie and Wendy.

As for us, it was hot and the pool was cool (ish) and so we had a very lazy day.

Happy Birthday Tariq

My internal body clock seems to have linked with yesterday mornings alarm! I was up at 4.45am. At least it was nice sitting under the terrace watching the sun come up.

The TRNC elections were held yesterday. Of course most of the ex pats are not citizens and therefore were unable to vote.

Mal and I spent the whole day designing a web site and swimming of course!

We were up at 4.30, had some breakfast and made sure River had all his belongings and then off to Ercan. What a lovely sunrise there was on the way to Ercan, just had to stop and take a picture. He checked in and then we had a coffee with him and then had to say goodbye. What a disgrace having your grandmother crying at the airport! He has been an absolute pleasure to have staying with us and we will really miss him.

Mal and I spent most of the day a bit miserable, wishing River was still here. He arrived back safely, thank goodness his flight back was with Pegasus so there would be no chance of him wandering around the airport in Istanbul, as we did on the journey over with Turkish Airlines! The rest of the family had organised a BBQ for his return.

River was up early as usual running up the mountain for the last time as sadly he leaves us tomorrow to start his new life in Herne Bay along with the rest of the family. It must be strange going back  to a different home but I know they will all love it there as it is a lovely village and only 4 minutes walk to the sea.

River and I went to Atakara for fresh bread for breakfast and Cyprus Today.

We then went down to The Cabin in Lapta that David and Kenny recommended to us. Time on the beach, in the sea and we stayed there for lunch and very good it was too. I can see why they recommended it! A  really lovely lunch.

More swimming in the pool back home and then River packed. We will miss him, it has been so nice having him here. Hopefully he knows what he has to do about schools now and fingers crossed one of the Grammar schools will find a place for him.

A last few games of cards in the evening and then early to bed to get up at 4.30am!

We went into Girne early as River wanted to buy his brother Tariq’s birthday present. From there we went down to Rosy’s Place in Lapta and on to the beach and stayed there for our lunch.

In the evening we went to Pearl’s 1st Birthday Party at the Black Olive. She is so cute and I guess will be growing up tri lingual, clever girl. Thankfully Ed (dad) was allowed to come home from the army for the night. It is such a long time since we have seen her.

Swimming in the pool in the morning and then we were invited to David and Kenny’s for a BBQ, which was delicious. River made a trifle to take over there! Jekka and Loppie now seem to be getting on well together and Loppie (who was a stray they rescued) is improving daily, bless her. A really lovely time in good company.
