Lou, Rhys and co were coming round for lunch, so I bought a large joint of beef, three and a half kilo and then for various reasons the older boys couldn’t come, Tariq was in London with his girlfriend etc etc! We had to have lunch early as Rhys had a busy night ahead. He was booked solid until 3 the following morning I think.  He also has a cold and so wanted a couple of hours sleep before he went for his first fare. We had a lot of food left over! It will get eaten!!  There’s always far too much food at Christmas “just in case.”!

After they went home we watched Groundhog Day as we haven’t seen it for years. This was followed by The Real Marigold on Tour, catch up. Neither of us wanted to go out, not at all appealing this year. I did get in touch with David and Kenny who said how they missed us. We really miss them too, they were the best neighbours ever. Who knows we may have good neighbours in Sandwich. I have to say it is very deserted this end of Preston and has been all week.

It wasn’t a good day for me yesterday. Some days are OK other days I really struggle. Yesterday I struggled.

I went to do a little shopping, just round to Sturry. We were running out of bird food and we get so many birds in the garden. It’s a very busy garden!

We watched the Man U game. I’m not quite sure how they didn’t score.

It was awful weather so I volunteered to take Ellie for her walk on my own. It seemed pointless both of us getting sleeted on! Ellie wasn’t too impressed as it was windy too. A good thing I have waterproofs. 

It was Josie’s 8th birthday and we were invited over for her pizza party following them all going trampolining.

Mal took Ellie out and I went to the shops early. There was a lovely sunrise as  I left but a bit of a frost.

I really can’t stand battling around shops if people are going mad in the sales but it wasn’t too bad.

Ellie was very happy in the afternoon when her dog food was delivered! I only ordered it a day ago. That was good service.

We went back to Lou and Rhys’s and had a leisurely breakfast and then went for our Boxing Day walk with the dogs. We walked along the beach, all the way to Reculver to the King Ethelbert Inn and sat outside in the sun having a drink. It’s a dog friendly pub and there were masses of dog walkers there. They also have huge dog water bowls outside. 

We walked back along the cliff tops.
My eyes must have been working exceptionally well as on the way there I found a watch on the pavement, which Lou is going to advertise locally. I don’t think it was worth much but may be something sentimental for someone. Then along the cliff tops I found a £20 note and a £10 note folded together and no one was around. I guess the new notes do slip and must have fallen out of someones pocket. I think maybe even blown in the wind. So, when we were home I gave the littlies £10 each.
In the evening we drove home. We managed our first Christmas without Torin, I certainly had my moments but we managed. I frequently thought of us being with him last year, the memories we made then.

We opened presents and then drove Tris and Violet over to Margate.

From there we went over to Lou and Rhys’s and lots more presents! Lou and Sol did so well preparing the 3 courses for lunch for the 10 of us….delicious. Later in the evening followed by party games…eg tights on your head with a tennis ball in the end to knock the bottles down! Ellie had a new teddy!

 
We had a lovely time even though very emotional. Mal and I then walked down the road as we were staying the night at the Premier Inn.
