In the morning we drove into Farnham. Again the traffic was horrendous, so we just did a quick supermarket shop and from there went on to Bourne Wood. That is what we came here for, relaxation, not shopping!  The wood is huge and the sun was out and it  was really warm. We went for a very long walk.

It was so nice when we arrived back at the lodge that we sat outside for the rest of the afternoon along with taking Ellie for a walk on Hanckley Common . The footpath is literally behind our lodge and goes all the way through the golf course.

It is just so peaceful here. I am not quite sure how Ellie thought this was comfortable!

Monday 29th April 2024

I had a very long phone call with my long time friend Annette as it was her birthday last week and she thanked me for her present. Sadly her brother in law died on her birthday. It was so nice talking to her, we have known each other for 50 years!  She was my best friend when I lived in Yorkshire , we always just pick up where we left off.

Later we packed and headed off to a woodland retreat, near Farnham. The traffic was horrendous getting there and it took us far longer than we thought. BUT it was well worth the stress. We had a log cabin at the retreat and it was just so peaceful and really lovely.

If you walk to the edge of the retreat, there is a lovely wood, well quite honestly we are surrounded by woods.

If you walked over a little bridge you were in the pub garden. We went there to have dinner…dog friendly! We were quite happy to sit outside with Ellie but they took us into the restaurant. Ellie just lies under the table anyway!

Sunday 28th April 2024

A walk through the woods and orchards in Wingham. The apple blossom looked so pretty.

We went to the farm shop on the way home and bought some local asparagus and a nice plant to put on Torin’s grave.

We then drove to Lou and Rhys’s for our roast lunch. It was delicious .  We watched the Spurs game. They lost! After the game we took the dogs for a walk and went to the local pub and sat in the garden with a couple of drinks.

Saturday 27th April 2024

We went out for lunch, investigating where to have the next Hatters meeting. We went to The Plough in Ripple, a long time since we have been there but it has been good in the past. It was good again today so I booked it for the next meeting.

Back home to watch the end of the Hammers game….nearly! And after that Luton town, I am just so hoping they will stay up. Not looking promising.

Friday 26th April 2024

I had to go shopping, another birthday present to search for. I left early and the traffic was still horrendous and queueing because of all the house building.

Wednesday 24th April 2024

Sunny but very windy.

The afternoon I went to Buckland Hospital to the glaucoma clinic. I couldn’t drive for a couple of hours after so Mal came with me and after the appointment we walked Ellie over the fields behind the hospital.
