Saturday 29th June 2024

We went for Ellie’s walk at the park in Ramsgate.

As usual they are out patrolling the coastline!

Mal ordered a lot of seeds from Thomson & Morgan, the leek seeds were out of date so he complained and they didn’t understand, after a lot of emails they agreed to replace them. They arrived this morning and had exactly the same date on them!!!!! Obviously out of date again. Really??!!  This country is broken.

Still cleaning after all the dust from the road being dug up but the bonus of having Glasto on loud!

Ellie nice and relaxed in the shade….

Friday 28th June 2024

Another early morning walk with Ellie but it was nowhere near as hot as the previous day. Mal had his haircut and I went to get some shopping in Deal.  Jenkins the fresh fish has expanded into a much larger shop and now do seafood street food as well. As usual I bought a fresh crab for lunch.

Tennis in the afternoon. Sadly Harris lost in the semi final at Eastbourne.

Thursday 27th June 2024

The antibiotics I was given have done nothing for my stomach. I was up most of the night again with a bad stomach. At 4.30, I gave up and decided as it will be another warm day, Ellie and I should walk early. I did exactly the same in Cyprus. It is nice that time of day, so peaceful and just the occasional  dog walkers strolling around.

In the evening we went to the Marlowe to see Jools Holland. I really could go and see his show every week. I realised last night it is because they are all smiling on stage, involve the audience (I guess it did help being two rows from the front!) and also the camaraderie on stage is so obvious . Jools has an eye  for spotting talent and as he always does, introduced us to two guitarist/singers who were so good Toby Lee particularly.  Then he has additional established guests. Last night as always, Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall, Sumudu Jayatilaka  and then Imelda May…what a voice she has.

Just a taster (not mine!)

I have to say every time we go to one of his shows, we don’t want to leave and are all up and dancing ! A truly great night.

Wednesday 26th June 2024

The weather was hot and so we were up and out early. We were at Kearsney Abbey by 7.30 and it was nice and cool. A long walk and then Ellie just runs to the stream . She loves it in there.

Did a bit of sorting in the afternoon, the spare room and the garden. Too much really for a warm day!

In the evening we watched Portugal (my team in the Daniel sweepstake) play Georgia. Wow Georgia!! Why can’t England play like that?! Portugal lost 2-0.

Tuesday 25th June 2024

The workmen are still digging outside (Virgin), it just goes on and on but at least I left it behind as I had a dental appointment.  That didn’t go well. After the last extraction (lower) she was supposed to be doing an impression but I told her the top plate she made a couple of months ago was STILL too tight and making my mouth so sore and pushing on another tooth. I had given up trying to wear it. She had already tried to make it fit on three previous occasions. She got a bit cross because I couldn’t wear it and told me it is because I have gum disease and my teeth move!! She then suggested I go private and I asked what the difference would be if it was my teeth’s fault and she said they would take more care!  Oh, I see (I didn’t say this to her) but obviously you don’t get care on the NHS!!!!!! She ended up taking two impressions and is going to have another top plate made as well. She covered me in that pink stuff, by this time she was obviously getting fed up with me. I asked her for her suggestions what to do “go private”!! She is a very brusque Irish lady and heavy handed.

Fortunately she told me she is away all July so would I wait for her return or see her colleague……of course I said see her colleague. I don’t want to go back to her again!!

I will ask maxillofacial for her advice following the all round X ray I had. I had an appointment with her but was un able to get there (Faversham) last week as I had no car and her next appointment is August.

And it goes on…………………………………..

And so does this…………………………..

Oh dear England..not a good game.

Monday 24th June 2024

A very busy day at work. Jack was off as he was moving into his new house.

Pam came and met me lunchtime and we went to the cafe next door and sat in the garden. Pam decided on a luxury milkshake!!

More football in the evening and one of my sweepstake tams …Albania are now out!

Sunday 23rd June 2024

A lovely day and so we decided to give the car a run and go to Folkestone. As we had Ellie with us, we stopped at Samphire Hoe on the way.  No good trying to have a coffee, they didn’t open the coffee shop until 11 am.

We had a nice walk seeing lots of orchids, reminded us of Cyprus! We couldn’t go too far as Ellie was getting hot.

So, on to Folkestone. That was such a bad idea, we headed for the Harbour and the roads were jam packed and the car parks full. We turned around and headed back up the hill and there was even another massive queue that way. We were hoping to have a nice shellfish lunch.  It really was  bad idea on the first sunny Sunday!

We drove back to Deal, more civilised there and went along the beach and ended up sitting outside at The Royal Hotel and had our Sunday lunch and very nice it was too. But it was huge, so Mal and Ellie helped me out with mine.

In the evening we watched the Scotland game. A shame they are now out!
