Raining when we woke up but managed a walk without getting too wet. Then the French Open was on TV. The match was rained off and instead they showed Murray’s match from the previous day. I hadn’t seen it, so that was lucky. Mal was trying to get through his work on a dismal day so that we can go out when the sun shines! He is now way ahead of his plans.

I also watched a very good match with Tsonga. Not a waste of a day, I am a tennis addict.

Ha ha ha.

Mal had a lot to do in his far away allotment, so I dropped him off early in the morning and then met Lou and the littlies at Howletts. I have to say I never get bored going to see all the animals. Another nice day so most of the animals were out sunning themselves again. It was nice that Ollie, Oscar and Josie had the zoo books and filled in all the questions/answers, which made it really interesting.

We went to Minnis Bay and discovered there are only two sections of beach where dogs aren’t allowed, so plenty of space for Ellie.

We called into the butchers in Birchington on the way home, much better meat than the supermarket.

Later in the afternoon I heard a commotion outside in the garden and when I looked, a fledgeling thrush was sitting on the floor under a bush. Mal had to put it in a safe place (before Ellie saw it)  but ensured that mum knew exactly where it was. Ellie wouldn’t harm it but would pick it up in her mouth if given the chance.

I think it was moles night out last night. I opened the back door to see this

Moles this time not rabbits and we saw loads of fresh ones when we were walking Ellie. There were five in Elgar’s field alone. I have never seen so many dug over one night.

Mal took the morning off so that we could go to Howletts. We are certainly getting our monies worth. It was a lovely sunny day so most of the animals were out sunbathing.

Of course the beautiful Arina has to be my favourite.

We took Ellie out and chatted to the fruit men in the orchards and we commented on how much fruit had dropped in the next orchard. We thought they were plums but they corrected us, they are in fact apricots. Looking closely we can see it now! They also told us they never seem to crop well.

I went shopping to Westwood,bad decision, I forgot it was half term. Traffic queues everywhere. Gardening in the afternoon and Mal cut the hedges.

Mal worked at his moderation and I did some gardening. We were waiting for a home delivery from Tesco. The deal is for new customers, you receive £12 off with £60+ spend! Just use the code XXFNJE . By the time I ordered washing powder, toilet tissue, beer and wine, £60 was soon spent and a litre of Pimms is only £12 at Tesco! It came in our hour slot,even though he had difficulty finding the house as everyone does as it is mostly house names along this road and our post code is the same as the wildlife park. We also had a home delivery from Screwfix which came about 5 minutes after Tesco.

The sun was shining so Mal had a break from work and we went next door to the Wildlife Park.

Mal wanted to go to his Garlinge allotment so I dropped him off there very early and Ellie and I went on to Minnis Bay where it was a beautiful morning. You can no longer take dogs on the first part of the beach (May-September) but you can further down much to Ellie’s relief. She loves the sea.

Of course today is the day for the Margate Meltdown so there are scooters and motorbikes everywhere. I’d rather stay in the countryside on a bank holiday although we did see quite a few of them on the way home.

In the afternoon Mal,  Ellie and I went for a long country walk. Places have such lovely names around here…eg Heart’s Delight woods.
