We had Ellie’s vets appointment in the afternoon so we took her for a good run by the picnic area in Eastry. We then saw Julia and she is almost certain that Ellie’s lump is fatty tissue. She recommended that we watch in case it gets any bigger and to go back then. That was a relief.  We are in their Complete Care Club so the consultations are included in that. She gave her a thorough check up and she said she was in very good shape and she was amazed by her age. That sounds good and then she gave her a treat!!!!! She did know she is on a diet but said she couldn’t resist! This is what I am up against.

Thursday 29th August 2024

Over the fields with Ellie and then late morning I went to Pilates. I am really enjoying it but half the time lying on the floor I am not sure whether I am doing it correctly. Some of the group have been before so are used to the positions you are told to hold. BUT today I got a “Well done Maggie”, so I must have done something right!

Ellie’s Yumove arrived today, I am sure it will benefit her.

Wednesday 28th August 2024

It was very humid and Ellie was plodding around the orchards. She hates humidity. We have also ordered Yumove for her.

The apples are doing really well in the orchards.

I stopped at the farm shop on the way home and of course they have the first of their local apples but we now have loads of our own at the allotment.

The day was far too hot for Ellie and so she spent a lot of the day in front of the fan.

Tuesday 27th August 2024

A lovely morning to be at Kearsney Abbey.

And what better place to have a coffee?

We are making the most of the good weather. We heard from David and Kenny who are now living in Scotland and they say they have had nothing but rain for weeks! Well, they are looking forward to meeting up with us in Madeira in December.

Ellie was a little worn out all the running around so we took her home and left her there while we went to Toby Carvery for lunch.

I brush Ellie every evening and tonight I noticed that a lump she has on her face is getting bigger. A phone call to the vets and we have an appointment for Friday. Fingers crossed it is not serious.

Monday 26th August 2024

It may be Bank Holiday but I volunteered at Cancer Research. It was hardly worth it as we were the only charity shop open and apart from us I think it was only Sainsbury’s and the Co-op open! Head Office know best!! Lol. I even missed the Sandwich Duck Race, we did have tickets for it but we didn’t win!

Sunday 25th August 2024

The sun was out so we walked Ellie and then later went to Sandwich Festival. Today’s efforts were Italian cars on the Guildhall Forecourt but we did manage to get some tickets for tomorrow’s Duck Race. I always buy them for everyone (tradition!) but this year everyone seems too busy to come over and I am working anyway tomorrow!

We then walked down to the Quay and only a few of the medieval bits there.

We chatted to some people we knew then instead of having lunch out which we had planned (everywhere packed out), we came home and Mal decided to cook a roast!

Further investigation has told us that a lot of the regular stallholders at Sandwich events will no longer visit because Dover district council have put up the rents too much…great!

Saturday 24th August 2024

It rained, in fact for most of the day. We walked Ellie around the town as they were going to have Sandwich Festival, a lot on the Guildhall Forecourt but when we got there….nothing. They decided to cancel it all . What no contingency plan? Useless.

We had an afternoon of football with both Hammers and Spurs winning.
