We went to the shops so that Scarlet and Jack could spend their money and this was followed by another visit to Wingham Wildlife Park. The last time we went it was raining and so a lot of the animals were indoors. We had a really good day.

Happy Birthday to Tariq, 16 today and also to my nieces Julie and Wendy, a popular day for a birthday in our family!
We spent the day at Joss Bay and it was so hot we had to put lashings of sun cream on the kids! There were kids activities there but they were happy with sand, sea and buckets and spades.
In the evening we all went to Cafe de China in Canterbury for Tariq’s birthday. Tariq was totally embarrassed when they played him Happy Birthday in Chinese and then in English and then again and again and when the music finally stopped, the littlies carried on singing! How embarrassing when you are 16.
Out for a walk in the morning and Scarlet wanted to see the horse again. It wasn’t cold, she just wanted the ear muffs yesterday and has hardly taken them off!
We planned to go to Dover Castle and when we arrived there, we were told the car parks were full and so we had to park elsewhere and a mini bus was laid on to ferry people backwards and forwards to the castle.
In the afternoon they had a battle between the Welsh and the Flemish. Jack joined in and was on the Flemish side, scored 3 points and the Flemish won! Scarlet didn’t want to do it.
Well, they had such a good day and quite honestly they enjoyed it far more than we imagined but wanted to go right to the top, down and then up again. Mal and I were a little worn out!

We all took Ellie for a walk and played Puddle Jumping As Grandparents we can do just as we like. In side wellies were soaked but they had so much fun and Ellie joined in and had to go in the bath when we were back home.
We gave them memory boxes to decorate and they can keep items in there from their holiday with us.
Shops first and Poundland to spend some of their pocket money we had given them. We popped into Matalan and Scarlet insisted she wanted to buy the furry ear muffs, just the thing for July!
Next off to Viking Bay, Broadstairs and you just have to have cheesy chips as part of the experience!
Charlotte and Torin left for home and we took Scarlet and Jack to Wingham Wildlife Park. It was raining but we didn’t care . We looked at all the animals and then went into the indoor play area. Not brilliant weather for the first day of their holiday with Nanny and Grandad but we didn’t mind.
Back home late afternoon and we played games and then watched a film. Thought for the Day – “Grandchildren are Gods way of compensating us for growing old.”
