I went to Westwood shopping and managed to buy 2 birthday presents at last. 20% off so I did well at Debenhams. It is very rare I pay full price for anything! They were new season things too.
We watched the Hammers in the afternoon. A good game….they won!
Good news in the evening. Torin’s soul mate, Lisa Maria was proposed to by Lee, her boyfriend. I am so happy for them. Lisa was Torin’s best friend for so many years and I will never forget how she helped us with the funeral/flowers/wake and now I am so happy that she has found someone to make her happy. I know Torin will be smiling too.

A very cold walk for us and we went down by the river where they are carrying out all the water works and they do have a lot of new pipe on the other side of the river. We met Bob, our next door neighbour, with his dogs and we walked back with him.
We kept in the warm for the rest of the day catching up with things. Our new wheelbarrow arrived from Amazon. Yes such a shame that we couldn’t find a decent one in Argos/B&Q/Wickes/Range or Homebase. No wonder the high streets are disappearing. So, Mal put that together ready to take to the allotment when the rain stops.
We also cleaned out the utility room which had become a bit of a dumping ground.

I ordered a birthday present from Next and so went to Westwood to collect it. I asked for a gift receipt, just in case it wasn’t suitable. I was told no, as it had been ordered I couldn’t have one. I suggested that I had a refund, having paid when I ordered it, and then I buy it again. I was told no that couldn’t happen , it would go back to the warehouse. I just asked for my money back and walked out. Are these shops crazy nowadays? I spent the rest of the morning looking for an alternative, which I didn’t find!
A similar thing has happened with a “surprise” birthday present that I was getting Mal. Suddenly the price is increased from that shown online and also other misinformation! Back to square one with that one too. It used to be so easy going and buying presents, not any more.
In the evening we watched the last episode of Flesh and Blood.

A little chilly on our walk but at least the sun was out.
Home made broccoli and blue cheese soup for lunch to warm us up after which we went to the allotment. I planted two new rose bushes in tyres. I will paint the tyres when the weather improves but at least the roses are sorted. Mal did a lot of weeding in his allotment.
A nice long walk with Ellie while the sun was out and then Mal and I went to Westwood hunting for a new wheelbarrow. Not much luck with that so we will order from Amazon. I did buy a new hanging basket and a rose for my sister. I couldn’t resist it as it is called ‘Marion’.
We then went and had our lunch out. Mal was disappointed that they didn’t have pancakes for dessert and so settled for the crumble.
We had pancakes in the evening!

My day at Demelza. A pretty dismal day weatherwise and the customers didn’t seem too happy either! I think everyone is waiting for Spring. Lauren asked Linda and I to dress one of the windows but didn’t know what theme so we decided to do “Spring” with bright colours to try and cheer people up!
Lauren didn’t feel well in the afternoon and she was sick and so we had to close slightly early. I hope it is not catching.

I prepared the Sunday roast all ready for us all to go to the allotment and we were straight down there as soon as Lou and the kids arrived. They all work hard and the kids loved that their broad beans are all coming up. They also took a pot of planted basil seeds each home.
We watched the Man U game after lunch.
