Shopping at Westwood in the morning.   I spent the afternoon, sorting things out that we no longer need…loads! I frequently take things into work.

Thursday 22nd August 2024

A walk with Ellie in the park in Ramsgate and then it started raining a little.

Lunchtime I went to Pilates…it hurt a little more this time! Never mind it is good for me! There were only 6 of us today, there was 15 last time.

Another trip to the dentist in the afternoon to tell them that my plate doesn’t fit. This dentist told me bottom ones are often loose and Danya should have told me.  I just told her I nearly swallowed it, can’t keep it in my mouth etc etc. So she took another impression and told me she hoped the lab could extend it!! So, it has gone back to the lab. She said if this didn’t work I could have implants, no I can’t because of the bone loss….obviously they never read my notes Or a chrome plate but that would be private…………………in that case I would be going to another dentist!!! So, I wait and see AGAIN. All this is really never ending.

Mal had done all the  garden watering by the time I arrived home. So many tomatoes, just in the garden! The small ones are Piccolo, using seeds from a tomato. The larger ones are Atomic Sunset. Someone told me they were the best but I had to send for the seeds in Germany! I have never grown them before.

Tuesday 20th August 2024

A walk over the fields and Ellie found a field mouse!

I met up with some of the Hatters for lunch at The Dog and Duck, Plucks Gutter. Pam had a puncture on the way and had to wait for the AA so she didn’t make it and then we discovered Gore Street (where the pub is) was closed so we all had to drive miles on a detour. Not a good choice of pub! But we had a nice lunch.

Monday 19th August 2024

My volunteer day at Cancer Research. We were really busy and took a lot and seeing a lot of the prices were reduced in the sale, it was much harder work to meet targets. I was really tired by the time I arrived home.

Sunday 18th August 2024

We took Ellie to St Mildred’s Bay for the Goldie meet up. Twelve goldies today! She loved it and at least she got plenty of exercise without getting too hot.

It was such a nice day we decided to walk to our local, The Red Cow, to sit in the garden and take Ellie as it wasn’t quite as hot. I didn’t want to leave her in on her own again but she really didn’t look too keen on the walk.  But she just slept when we got to the pub garden! We then stayed for some lunch!

Saturday 17th August 2024

For the first time recently we were able to walk across the fields as they have gathered in the harvest. It was too dangerous to Ellie’s eyes and also there were snakes! Much better today, we have missed that walk.

As it was hot again we left Ellie indoors with the fan on and we walked into Sandwich town for their Feastival.

It was the usual overpriced drinks and food. Zoom events organise it whereas the rest of the Sandwich festivals are organised by the local council and volunteers. So, we did the sensible thing and went to The Quay Bistro, next to the river. My gin and tonic there was cheaper than yesterday’s lemonade and lime!

We had a lovely lunch there.

Early evening we watched the Hammers game, not a good start to the season.
