I went to buy some more peas for the allotment and also to the post office to return some Pavers shoes I had ordered. It is getting really complicated that if you want shoes you can’t try them on in the shops! Apart from that, the Pavers shop in Canterbury closed down anyway. Looks as though everything is going online! The shoes I ordered were too big but luckily I did the 99p extra for return.

It was rainy most of the day but Mal wanted to get the peas planted so he went to the allotment in the afternoon.

In the evening we watched Remarkable Places to Eat. It was filmed in Scotland. I was quite horrified that 95% of their lobster is exported!

Minnis Bay with Ellie and there were very few people there.

Allotment in the afternoon, loads more fruit and the first potatoes and more peas. Mal dug over another bed ready for more peas.

We walked Ellie and then went to Lou and Rhys’s for a lovely roast lunch and later our tea, The time always goes so quickly.

Allotment in the morning, just as well as it rained in the afternoon. The last lot of runner beans have now gone in.

The last of the broad beans but plenty of fruit, courgettes and peas.

In the evening we watched a film, The Notebook.

We awoke to the rain and thunder, so had to wait until it stopped before we could take Ellie out but when we did it was really humid.

Mal went to the allotment on his own in the afternoon, he had some things to plant and I didn’t have to water! Ellie and I stayed in the garden.

It was hot and so we had the air con on indoors.

Another early morning walk with Ellie. Even at 5.30, there were plenty of dog walkers, all preventing walking their dogs in the heat of the day. Mum seagull was squawking at me when I walked past.

A quick shop early to buy some more bean sticks and a few plants for the garden!

Mal went to the allotment on his own in the afternoon, it was too hot to be working down there. He brought peas home.

I have to admit to eating a lot while podding them!

I cooked a Mexican Tuna Casserole for dinner. I always laugh because it was the first meal I cooked for Mal and I think that is what he fell in love with!

It’s now been confirmed the whole world has gone mad! All the DFL’s heading for the coast in their thousands, have they forgotten about the pandemic?! I’ll say no more, maybe I am the only person with this opinion.  Are we waiting for another spike now?

Early morning walk with Ellie, just the two of us…Mal was still asleep! I really don’t want to walk Ellie when it is too hot. Anyway, it is the best part of the day but a lot more dog walkers avoiding the heat today! I spotted yet another moorhen nest. The little ones are growing as are the baby seagulls on the roof of the house next to the cemetery.

The allotment again in the afternoon, we can’t leave it this weather. I spent the time watering and weeding as I went. We have so much fruit and it won’t be long until the blackcurrants are ready too. This is just today’s raspberries, we pick at least the same every day! I also have the first courgette. I told Mal I have always been good at growing them, so I was pleased mine appeared first!

One day I will have clean nails! I do scrub them but I am no good at wearing gloves, I need to feel the soil!
