The weather men keep telling us that we are going to have ice and snow, so I decided to get my shopping this morning before the bad weather hits. I have to say it was cold.
This photo came up on Facebook today. It is Torin about 17 years ago, at our house in Minster with River and Sol…..always the biker!
At least today I finished all the photos for little Torin’s 18th birthday photo book. Mal has put the 100 plus photos all together for me. I do hope he likes it. I am the only person who has all these photos, so he should.
Of course I am watching Winter Watch every night. Last night’s included a small piece on mental health. Well worth a watch on i-player.
Thought for the Day – “No act of kindness however small is ever wasted.”
Cold but at least the sun was out when we walked Ellie and she seems a lot better today thank goodness.
I spent more time hunting photos out as it is little Torin’s 18th this year so I am creating a photo book from his day 1. I know I am the only one who has all the photos. It’s just a good thing that I take so many.
Lou and Rhys came over as they wanted to see Torin’s headstone and then we went and had our lunch at The Crispin. They do such nice Caribbean food there, I know totally no good for Slimming World!
Thought for the Day – “Sometimes you have to let go of the picture of what you thought life would be like and learn to find joy in the story you’re living.”
Ellie wasn’t very bright after her night with an upset stomach, so we just went for a short walk and on the way home I bought some flowers to put at Torin’s grave. The viola plant I have had there so long is still going strong and we are also planting a rose tree at the side of the head stone.
Early evening I went to Slimming World and received this certificate…
I may not do as well next week as we are away and there is no way I am going to Harrogate and not going into Betty’s for afternoon tea! I will try for the rest of the time though.
Later we watched Britain’s favourite dog. The Golden Retriever came 9th!! First was a staff and second a mongrel (Cockapoo!!) People obviously don’t know how lovely Goldies are.
Thought for the Day – “Be the person your dog thinks you are.”
Demelza day and it must have been the worst day since I have worked there, what I mean is a total lack of customers and when they did come in they were spending £1 and paying by card!! But we did have a small dog basket and Rhys was only saying the previous day that Roddie has started sleeping on their bed and he should have his own bed now he is getting older. I messaged Lou and she said yes they would like it. I then had visions of me carrying it home on the bus. Lou said she would collect if from the shop the following day. When I went out for lunch I by chance saw Tariq so I persuaded him to take it home for me and he did.
I think Roddie likes it!
We had broken windows in the shop. Someone had kicked them in over the weekend, along with a couple of other shops. A homeless person reported it to the Police, the young guy has been arrested and is in custody. He was drunk and “didn’t know what he was doing”. He has since watched the CCTV and can’t remember a thing!
I don’t know whether Ellie ate something she shouldn’t have done on her last walk but she was up half the night being sick. I had to keep getting up to let her out.
Thought for the Day – “Be careful with your words, they can only be forgiven, not forgotten.”
Lou went running, training for the London Marathon even thought the weather was awful and it was her birthday! We went over to their house. Tariq was home, so really nice to see him. We went out with them all for a birthday lunch and met Maddie and River at the pub. Ollie made the cake and it was delicious.
Back to Lou and Rhys’s and Sol and his girl friend arrived once they had finished work.
We watched the Spurs game….oh dear, too many injuries and looks as though there isn’t anyone who can score a goal!
Thought for the Day – “The secret of living well and longer is: eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure.” ~ Tibetan proverb
I went to the hygienist, my least favourite treatment so I take pain killers before I go! She was very nice. This was the first treatment, I have an infection. I have prescription mouthwash and have to go back to her for another lot of treatment , when my gums have calmed down, in two months time. I am also being referred to a specialist. Penny the dentist came in to have another look and said she would really prefer not to give me antibiotics and has told me how to cope with it.
Coincidently Rhys had a dental appointment too, he has two cracked teeth. He goes to a dentist in Whitstable.
Tariq is back home from his Marine travels and waiting for his next posting.
Torin’s headstone is now in place and I am very pleased with it. We went to have a look in the afternoon and then gave Ellie a run on the (dog) park opposite our house. It is ideal, so close and all the other dogs come and play there and everyone cleans up. It’s not huge but so handy for us and then only another minutes walk to where Torin is layed to rest.
In the evening we watched the Man U v Arsenal game. A good game and surely they will give Ole Gunnar Solskjær the job now!
