My volunteer day at Cancer research shop. So we were up early to take both the dogs for their walk.

But it was very wet and muddy, so I had to wash and clean Django’s feet. He certainly wasn’t  the clean fluff ball who arrived to stay with us! But he did enjoy himself.

At work it was nice to see Jack now he is married. Such lovely photos of the wedding.

Meanwhile at home, Django’s parents collected him and were thrilled he had such a good time. I send photos to them during the stay.

Tariq’s birthday today and the best birthday present…he took home a springer spaniel puppy called Benny!

We took both the dogs to Kearsney Abbey. Django loved it even though he is not allowed off the lead.  It’s a little dog heaven with so many of them over there. We weren’t too keen on the male swan who came and plonked himself in front of us when we had coffee, as he can be very aggressive.

It rained most of the afternoon.

I went into Deal first thing and then watched  some football when back home. In the afternoon Django arrived. We are looking after him until Monday. He is another one who loves sitting in front of the fan. And he is such a little sweetie.

We were out in the garden all afternoon. I think Django loved Ellie’s antlers to chew on.

Over the fields for a long walk even though it started drizzling!

It was the Open Day at the Jubilee Centre and a lot of people were interested in using the place. That was good news. Mal spent most of the day over there, dealing with applications.

Ellie and I were in the garden in the afternoon, with her playing with her toys.

Thursday 27th July 2023

It rained overnight but by the morning it was dry enough to take Ellie for a nice walk over the fields.

A bit cloudy the rest of the day. A lovely red admiral came to the garden, just one of many!

A little later cabbage white butterflies lay their eggs on the underside of the nasturtium leaves and then start eating them, so they are perfect to control my triffids!

Wednesday 26th July 2023

Time to sort the garden out as I moved a lot of pots out of direct sun while we were away. Some plants are thirsty but most seem to have survived. July is not a good time to go away! I have so many tomatoes and we ate a couple which were red enough. So tasty! I never buys seeds, always get them out of Piccolo tomatoes which is why we have so many! It’s not only the pots in the garden but Mal planted a lot at the allotments that I had started off.

I think the nasturtiums are a little like Triffids!

BUT the butterflies and bees love them.
