Happy Easter Everybody, hope you have lots of eggs!

Mal and I had Easter eggs, which we brought back from the UK with us and miraculously they are still all in one piece. I apologise to my friends on the “other side” for my thought for the day, but couldn’t resist when I saw it.

All the littlies came on the web cam from Cardiff to thank us for our Easter eggs, I thought the Easter bunny brought them! Rhys has continued our family tradition of hiding tiny eggs all over the house and they had loads. When we changed caravans, Rhys and co having spent one Easter there, it was surprising how many old Easter eggs we found when moving furniture.

We then went down to Bamboo Beach Market to collect our door number that Jean had made for us. We intended to go to the SPOT (Turtles) fundraising morning in Lapta, rather later than we had planned because of the web cam, but when we arrived at the Lapta strip a Police car was blocking the road. The road was closed for the Triathlon, in the end we decided rather than go all around the back turnings, we would go home, stopping at Atakara. Some nice fresh olive bread for our lunch and Mal was relieved to find some Gold Fassl in there which the other supermarkets seem to have sold out of. This is what happens, they just seem to disappear from the island.

We had a lovely afternoon outside and later Violet came on the web cam to thank us for our easter eggs.

More talks about a settlement on the island.

We went shopping in Lemar and bought Cyprus Today, another edition of stale news. We hadn’t realised that Lemar were selling Hot X buns, could have saved Mal the trouble! I wonder what the locals thought of them.

Later we watched the Man U game and then I looked in on Easter Eggs Live. Kevin the emu is doing well and now has a new flatmate! There was also another emu egg hatching. For anyone who is interested they have turtle eggs too!

DON’T FORGET TO PUT YOUR CLOCKS FORWARD AN HOUR TONIGHT!

It is very obvious to Mal and I that the clocks change this weekend as we are waking at 5am! So, Mal was up early and decided to make Hot Cross Buns. The first time he has made them.

Here is a very useful piece of information explaining your rights, if you have a cancelled or delayed flight and we have had plenty.

An update on K5. It seems pretty obvious to me intentionally or unintentionally these continual adjournments because they cost K5 are putting pressure on their finances. Possibly dare I say this, with the intention of making them unable to carry on with their quest for justice.  If my diary disappears, you will all know why and I hadn’t even mentioned Akfinans Bank!

I had a chat with Torin on Whats app. He was up early and cleaning and washing up! His new job, training in the office in Reading has meant a 2 hour journey each way, so he has had no time all week to do much in the house. But at least he now has a long weekend off, as I said like “normal” people!

Something you may enjoy over the Easter weekend….Easter Eggs live, fascinating!

And a good BBC article here.

Lunchtime, I met up with the girls and we went to Beyti, at the end of Tin Pan Alley in Girne. As usual we had a lot to talk about  and so our lunch went on for a long time. I haven’t eaten in there before and they have quite an extensive menu and reasonable prices, worth a try if you are in the area. I took Joan home after lunch, (well at about 5pm!) and had a cup of coffee. Nice to see Jeff, I haven’t seen him for a long time. A lovely afternoon, thank you girls, we do have a chin wag don’t we?!

I spent some of the evening watching Kevin the Emu hatch! (See link Easter Eggs Live above)

I have taken the picture from Kiva, how true it is and it is exactly what they do with microfinance. You can reloan the $25 dollars you invest or take it out at the end of term. The best charity I know of because you choose exactly where it goes.

David and Kenny lost their car port during Friday’s hurricane winds and discovered that the base of the wood was rotten. They asked if we would like the wood, which of course we said yes please. David had started cutting it and so we went over in the morning,  Mal then helped David and Kenny and I loaded it into the car. Mal and David had a race to see who could do either end of a log first. David won! Mal claimed his saw was blunt. How very kind of them both.

The car did groan a bit on the first load, going up our steep drive.  Plenty of logs now, when Mal cuts them down to size, which he started as soon as we arrived home.

As soon as we arrived home Digiturk were on the phone saying they would be here in  10 minutes to sort our signal out. That really was a surprise and very unusual for Cyprus for them to come a day early and not a day late as is the norm. We paid him 70tl and the TV is back again.

The latest on the south and the bailout.

We called Digiturk and said we have no signal following the storm and they informed us that their satellite is now ours and so they are going to charge to come and sort it out.

A day for painting the front door even though the sun is hot out there, it has to be done before it is too intense.

The souths banks are to open tomorrow.

Yes! Channel 4 have realised there are 2 sides in Cyprus.
