My day volunteering at Cancer Research shop. I was the only one on the till all day, which I enjoy doing. We have some really nice ‘bought in goods’ ready for Christmas. We were fairly busy which was good.
Mal had dinner ready when I arrived home.

The morning rain and low tides put us off going to the Retriever meet as we had planned. Instead we walked along the Rope Walk. However it seemed to stop later on and so we drove to Goodnestone. There are some really lovely walks over there and a pub, the Fitz (Fitzwalter Arms) where we have previously had very good meals. We did book saying we were happy to eat in the marquee with Ellie. We didn’t know it has changed hands and the previous landlord took with him, the huge marquee along with all the comfortable furniture! They said they were dog friendly and we could eat in the restaurant. To be honest, some people don’t like eating with dogs around so I asked if we could have a table at the end, where she could lie down un noticed. She always lies under the table anyway and no one knows she is there but it just makes me feel more comfortable, if she is out of the way of other diners.
Our roasts came and my beef was too rare and tough but Ellie enjoyed it! The french beans were more than al dente, they were almost raw and we weren’t given any serviettes, when we tried to ask for things we were told “sorry, we are short staffed”. I then had the lemon and lime cheesecake. I used to get the lemon cheesecake here with the previous owners, theirs was so good I asked how they made it and they shared their secret with me. So many people love it when I make it. BUT the one I had today neither tasted of lemon or lime, it was tasteless, not nice and so I left it. We asked for the bill and seeing as there were no drinks prices displayed, we were shocked that a pint of draught beer was £6! I don’t think we will be going there again!
We stopped at the farm shop on the way home and I bought some narcissus! In October?!
A very good Man U v Hammers game. Sadly Man U won!
It is now time the government did something about the immigrants flooding our coastline. One of our neighbours works at Manston and tells us how horrific it is there with far too many people.

We haven’t been to King George park for a long while, so decided to take Ellie there. We stopped on the way to get a couple of get well cards and some chocs for Jackie. We had a coffee in the park. It is looking very autumny even though it was very warm.
As we were leaving I fell over where there was a large hole in the path which I hadn’t noticed and went flat. It hurt! A man stooped and asked if I was OK. Don’t you feel silly?! I scraped my knee and hands and I think I will ache tomorrow where I twisted as I fell. Ah well, accidents happen.
We stopped on the way home to drop off the cards and chocs at Jackie’s house. Chris said she will be in hospital at least until Monday and they seem to have really dosed her up with “high intensity” drugs.
A better second half in the Spurs game and they won!

We left for our walk hoping we wouldn’t get wet but half way round the fields it did rain and a lot. Two wet dogs to take home. We then had to chase Millie around to get her dry.
Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon. I made some things I am doing for Christmas.
It’s good to have Autumn watch back.

Our wedding anniversary, we were married 24 years ago. It certainly doesn’t seem that long!
We were so lucky that the sun shone all day and so we spent all day outside. Lunchtime we took Ellie and Millie with us and went for lunch at the George and Dragon. It was really warm. When we had finished the meal another family arrived with their dog and we all sat in the garden chatting. It was really lovely, especially for October!
A lovely day.

Millie was the perfect doggie overnight. She just got in her bed and went to sleep. I think we wore her out with the walk this morning.
Then it was time for my appointment with the different periodontist in Sandwich. Another hour in the chair while she poked and prodded and measured, not pleasant. It seems they can’t get a replacement for Anna in Dover which is why I was referred to this one in Sandwich.
She has made another hours appointment for me in December (the earliest she has). I shall look forward to that…..not!
Both of the dogs love raw carrot. Carrot time….
