Mal made breakfast and I opened cards from Tris and Mal and Ellie! We then decided to go and take a look at Dumpton Gap beach. It was glorious in the sun!

We then headed for Faversham to Lou and Rhys’s for Mother’s Day lunch, cooked by Oscar. Well done Oscar! It was nice spending the afternoon with them. They gave me a huge hanging basket with a lovely geranium and another planted outside planter. Really lovely, lucky me.

Saturday 29th March 2025

The sun was out and so we took Ellie to Minnis Bay. She hasn’t been in the sea for quite a while!

On the way home we called into Secret Garden at Quex Park as the Birchington Manshed had a stall there. We met up with Penny and John and there were a few of the other men there that Mal met previously. I bought three little wooden Happy Easter bunnies.

I had a parcel arrive in the afternoon, a “pre Mother’s Day” gift from my dear friend Zoe, a suncatcher which I have hung in the conservatory.  She really is so thoughtful.

Mal got it in his head that we should have a beach hut for a week in the summer! He looked on Thanet council website and went through all the beaches. Dumpton Gap , in spite of its name is a lovely beach and dog friendly year round. I suggested we look at exactly which beach huts they were offering but instead, he booked it immediately!  No idea where that idea came from.

Mal was finishing off the upstairs hall painting, while I had a cleaning day.

In the afternoon the new duvet arrived from Amazon, as I threw it on top of the bed to “breathe” , I noticed not one line but four lines of stitching all undone!  It was certainly not a cheap one and so has to be returned. I shall now go to Dunelm instead.

Thursday 27th March 2025

After our walk with Ellie, I took the car to be cleaned inside and out. I don’t usually do this but Mal was fed up with stretching to do the top and the inside needed cleaning. They don’t make the best job of it and it is expensive. We’ll have to find a different place. I also had nearly a 2 hour wait. I did however find two Easter presents for the Great grandchildren during that time. Not sure if they would want them to have loads of chocolate, so I found two lovely soft cuddly bunnies.

We then had “fat clinic” for Ellie at the vets. She is 27.5kg which now seems around her comfortable weight and Megan is very happy with that. Yes, she does have the odd treat now and again but I do keep control of what she eats and she still seems to like the diet food we buy from the vets.

While Mal was at the allotment later, somehow I managed to break our Vacuum. We then discovered we have had it three years, which is good going when you have a Golden Retriever! Time for another.

I also ordered a new Spring duvet from Amazon.

Wednesday 26th March 2025

A lovely sunny day and so we were at Kearsney for 8am!  Too early for the coffee shop to be open so it was just the walk but beautiful that time of day.

On the way home, Home Bargains for more plants! Their prices are unbelievable, so much cheaper than the garden centres. I have also now managed to get my full quota of the solar lights I wanted!

I have priority booking for the Palladium Panto and they have just released tickets for priority members, so we now have our tickets booked for January!

In the evening we met up with Tris and Violet and had a meal at Pan Asian which was very nice. We gave Violet her birthday present and Tris gave me a card, flowers and truffles for Mother’s Day, bless him.

Sadly Violet is being a teenager! I don’t think she was too impressed meeting up with the old folk!

Tuesday 25th March 2025

I went to Canterbury as Mal ran out of paint and the only place that had the one we wanted was The Range in Canterbury, for some reason they can’t move it from store to store??! So, I went to collect it and intended checking out the shops there.

I only managed the Range (2 new lampshades as well!) when I received a phone call that completely threw me!  It was Faversham Health Centre offering me a maxillofacial appointment in April rather than the wait until October when they postponed my March appointment. So I am having the operation in April now. I agreed to it and then thought “oh s**t” and ended up driving home instead!!

I did a bit of tidying in the garden and was trimming a pot of mint, thought it was a big stone obviously dropped in it and the saw the eyes looking at me…it was a huge toad!! We don’t have a pond so no idea where it has come from!
