Thursday 29th February 2024

We went for a long walk around Sandwich, including calling into Boots and the Post Office. So many people stop and make a fuss of Ellie. At least the sun was out.

We haven’t been near the beaches for a while as they are covered in starfish. This is because of the rough seas and onshore winds.

Mal has kept chasing NHS to see when he is going to see a consultant. It just goes on and on, even when he gets in touch with PALS. He managed to speak to someone this afternoon and a miracle, he now has an appointment at Maidstone Hospital in April to see the consultant.  Well, that’s a start.

Wednesday 28th February 2024

We had a long walk around the orchards in Wingham and stopping at the farm shop on the way home and then a tired Ellie slept with her teddies!

In the afternoon I had another appointment at Buckland Hospital for my eyes. More tests, different ones this time and then told I would be sent a follow up appointment and  if I haven’t heard in 3 weeks I have to ring them. She did ask how old my glasses are. I told her 6 months, when she checked them I wondered if they are going to say I need new ones again! Hopefully not.

We watched Man U in the evening, they left that a bit late, scoring their goal in the 89th minute!

Tuesday 27th February 2024

We walked to Gazen Salts and then along the river and it really looked like Spring especially after yesterdays strong winds.

Poor Ellie’s tongue looks a little lopsided since she had her canine tooth out that side.

We went to Margate for an early dinner at Mullins Brasserie.  It was their Caribbean night. Oh my goodness so much food. I couldn’t eat it all but Mal managed to help me out. It really was so tasty. By the time we left it was really busy in there.

Back home to watch the second half of the Hatters game and sadly they lost against Man City!

Monday 26th February 2024

My volunteer day at Cancer Research. One of our long term volunteers, Woody has left. That’s a real shame as he often stood outside the shop collecting. He will be missed.

The wind was horrendous. The trouble is in Birchington, the winds come up from the sea.

A good result for Hammers in the evening.

Sunday 25th February 2024

It was frosty when we woke up. We went to Kearsney Abbey and were surprised how high the stream was , it even went over the little crossing  bridge. Of course Ellie loved all the water and mud.

The sun did come out for five minutes!

We watched the Carabao Cup in the afternoon.

We spent the evening watching the remainder of the Netflix series ‘One Day’. It makes you cry!!

Saturday 24th February 2024

The sun was out so we went for a long walk over the fields in spite of it being thick mud.

We met Tris and Violet at Quex Barn for lunch as Violet goes horse riding there and Tris waits for her to finish her lesson.

In the evening we started to watch “One Day”. Yes, I know in the end it reduces everyone to tears.

Friday 23rd February 2024

Mal walked Ellie while I went shopping. I went in search of Decaf Yorkshire Tea. Mal has been told to drink decaf and he only likes Yorkshire tea. I did find some in the end  at a ridiculously expensive price, most supermarkets had an empty space where it should have been! I also managed to find compost that wasn’t peat free. I hate peat free!

We had a problem with our vacuum cleaner, were going to return it and then realised we have had it two years! It is cleaned regularly, so Mal decided to take the whole thing apart. Hopefully it will work when it all goes back again.
