Jobs for the boys in the new north Cyprus government!

Down to Lambousa market in the morning and then on to Ileli. Cyprus Today.

I’m not sure what has happened to the weather this morning, we have cloud! I doubt it will bring rain! But it is humid. The clouds cleared by lunchtime.

Hammers lost their game in the afternoon.

Today is Victory Day in the TRNC.

Thankfully a good vote from the House of Commons, against military action in Syria. Common sense has prevailed.

We went into Starling, amongst other things bought a bottle of wine, one price on the shelf and 2.50tl more at the till. We pointed out the error and were refunded the money. At the moment I am not doing big shops as shelf prices in some supermarkets are not the same as the till, of course the till price being more. But I have to say they were all correct in Ileli!

In the middle of our shopping, Mal had a phone call from Landmark Estates to say they were coming to visit our house. We had asked them to market it about a month ago, heard nothing so just forgot about them! Well, they could have given us a bit of notice! Anyway, we dashed home. She looked all round, saw our Kocan and then we asked about a price. She had the formula for house, pool, size of land but couldn’t give us a price for the privacy, location and the views and so we showed her our website and she said she would be happy to market it at the price we have put on there.  Now we are wondering whether we should have asked for more!!

She said she would be making the most of the views. So here are a couple of mountain views.

There is another turtle nest excavation tonight. Meet at 6pm at Guzelyali Beach Restaurant. If you haven’t seen these little miracles, do go along. As far as I am aware, we are towards the end of the excavation season, so don’t leave it too late.

It has been a busy time for the volunteers…….

“Recent Nest Details – With thanks to all the ‘Namers’
‘Matt/Lucy’ 65 Eggs with 53 hatchlings 21/8
‘Grace’ 86 Eggs with 84 hatchlings 24/8
‘Max’ 69 Eggs with 65 hatchlings 24/8
‘Andy’ 72 Eggs with 69 hatchlings 24/8
‘Shamsi’ 70 Eggs with 67 hatchlings 24/8
‘Adam’ 47 Eggs with 46 hatchlings 25/8
‘Anita’ 89 Eggs with 72 hatchlings 26/8
‘Lily’ 90 Eggs with 89 hatchlings 28/8″

This was taken from their Facebook page and I am sure they won’t mind me sharing it. You have to see these tiny turtles at least once in your  life!

We spent the afternoon watching “the” debate from the House of Commons. It appears to me that that they have not been given sufficient information to vote, even though it was continually asked for re Syria. Where is the evidence?  Well, I for one hope the UK are not going rushing in.

The lira continues to devalue at 3.20 to the pound this morning. The Turkish lira is tumbling!

I mentioned the Turtles yesterday. There is a nest excavation tonight 6.15pm at Guzelyali Beach Restaurant and release of the hatchlings at first dark.

Lunchtime I met up with Sue and Tanya to do our “ladies what lunch” (ha ha!) at The Cabin, Lapta. Joan was supposed to come as well but didn’t arrive. So, the three of us had a big catch up and a very nice lunch with good company. It is such a lovely place to have lunch. I have never had a bad meal there yet.

I stopped in Starlings on the way home and noticed a lack of shelf pricing, maybe ready for the price hikes which are inevitably coming because of the lira and probably already at the tills. Cyprus Today.

According to the News, there is  “A build-up of military aircraft on RAF Akrotiri on Cyprus”. No surprise there then. At least north and south are together on this one.

If you are in north Cyprus and haven’t seen the turtles hatching or their release at night, do go, you will not regret it. If you are on Facebook, put in Karsiyaka Turtle watch and then you will be informed of dates of releases. There are no releases tonight but keep checking.

Fascinating watching a crow aggravating a kestrel above our house. I think the crow soon got the message not to mess with him and finally flew away.

Lunchtime we went and met Pauline and Chris at Blue Song, a nice lunch, right next to the sea. We have quite a big lizard who seems to like living around our car port…

We came across a bush of Datura Stramonium (thorn apple). It is used in herbal medicine but is also deadly poisonous if not used correctly. DON’T use it!

Torin, Scarlet and Jack came on the web cam in the morning, Scarlet has suddenly shot up and is a few inches taller than Jack now!

I should have paid more attention to Geography at school! In the light of happenings with the France, US and UK, just looking at the map. Yes, of course I know how close Syria is to us but couldn’t remember how far down Damascus was! For those of you as bad as me…………..

syria-map (1)Lou, Rhys and the family went to the Military Odyssey today. I have a feeling Josie is going to be a tom boy! I love this photo of Oscar!

Later on we watched the Chelsea v Man U game, no goals!
