A day in Bexhill and still the sun was shining. Of course Ellie had to go in the sea. We stopped at Hughies ,famous for its cake, for a coffee but resisted the cake! It is right on the sea front.

Fish and chips later after an all day in Bexhill with lots of walking.

We have been so lucky with the “summer” weather.

A day for exploring more of the country park. After all these years I should have learnt not to trust Mal’s map reading skills! I think we doubled the walk we originally intended and all around here it is extremely hilly. We did take plenty of water for Ellie and us. Ellie managed to find Barn Pond, straight in and this one was muddy! She loved it.

First thing when we arrived back at the lodge was to shower Ellie, she was caked in mud.

In the evening we booked dinner at a place I have been fascinated with but is always fully booked when we have been in the area. This time we booked before we arrived! By day it is a bookshop and in the evening is a Thai restaurant. As it was such a lovely evening we asked if we could sit outside with Ellie. Thai is my favourite food and this did not disappoint!

We drove to Eastbourne, starting at Eastbourne Country Park. I don’t think we have been there before but we must go again. Ellie was sniffing out streams we didn’t even know were there  and of course she was having a great time running in and out of all the water she could find. It was also a very warm day.

We intended going to the visitor centre but it was closed and just a caravan in the car park was the substitute. We found out far more chatting to locals (other dog walkers), who told us to drive up to Seaford for the views!

We walked to the coffee shop only to discover it is shut on Tuesdays! It’s open Wednesday – Sunday.  We walked back to the car and then drove to Pevensey. We found a really lovely pub, dog friendly and a huge beer garden, The Royal Oak & Castle Inn.

The food was excellent. We then had a walk around Pevensey castle.

That turned into a very long day.

We went into Hastings and spent the morning there. The old town is the nicest but of course Ellie had to go to the beach first.

We then went to the Three Oaks for lunch.

Back to the lodge and then a long walk in the country park. It’s so nice, just straight out of the holiday park on to the country park.

We walked along Hastings sea front to St Leonards.

We had a coffee in the very “hipster” Goat Ledge cafe. If you moved away from the sea front it was just like Cliftonville (rough!)

We decided to drive to the Three Oaks, a pub we always visit when in the area and sat in the garden with Ellie. I ordered a beef roast and Mal ordered a pork roast but he ordered large. They brought mine out and I told them that is was Mal’s as it was huge but no, his came next and it was HUGE!! I couldn’t believe the amount of beef I had, so I shared it with Ellie.

We then watched the football. Needless to say a Man U win followed by an awful Spurs game.

We spent the morning in Alexandra Park and such a sunny day, it was lovely. We stopped for a coffee in the middle and then I am sure Ellie remembered last time when she jumped in the stream that runs through the park. So, she headed for the woods with us following! In she jumped and it was quite muddy but she loved it.

We then drove to the Conquerors March, a pub with a lovely huge garden and had our lunch there.

The rest of the afternoon we spent relaxing on the terrace at the lodge.

I just had to watch Strictly in the evening!

We walked Ellie and then packed the car up and headed for a stay at Shear Barn.

We stopped on the way to have lunch at Truly Scrumptious in Hythe, we love that place and they love dogs!

Then on to Hastings and we sat outside of our lodge and ordered in a chicken Saag that we ate outside, a lovely evening.
