Year: 2019

We arranged to meet Tris and Violet to go to the zoo. It was a miserable day and raining but Arina, my favourite (the Siberian tiger) was lying right next to where we were talking to her keepers, so that made my day seeing her and it really didn’t matter that some of the other animals were staying indoors.

There Arina was just lying on the grass in the rain.

We took a picnic lunch with us and managed to find a place with cover to eat it.

Dinner back at home and then Tris had to take Violet back to London.

A good result for Spurs in the evening but not for Harry Kane!

My day at Demelza. It was very quiet in the morning but things perked up in the afternoon. We have a customer who is “very different” and whenever he comes in he just buys a lot of things without even thinking about it and as far as we know he chooses to live on the streets but he has a lot of cash. Today he spent £78 in less than 5 minutes!

One of our windows looked very seasonal and nice to hear that the disabled kids from the college did it for us.

Happy Birthday to Rhys!!!

We took Ellie for a walk and it was really misty and then it started raining before we arrived home.

Mal said we would go out lunchtime and eat so we walked to the Fleur de Lis. The main course was good but I have never had Eton Mess without meringue before! It was just cream with a couple of bits of fruit in it. In fact there was no way I could eat all that cream.  I spoke to the waitress about it and she just said sorry. No more than that. What a shame and we were charged for it! These places do themselves no favours at all.

We went to Minnis Bay. Ellie hasn’t been well and so it’s quite some time since we have been to the sea there. She loved it and of course went straight in the sea. It was quite misty and cold when we arrived but it became warmer as the day progressed.

There were a lot of dog walkers on the beach and we also spotted a pair of herons having a paddle.

On the way back we stopped at Wilko to buy wood paint. So far we have found Wilko better than all the Dulux we used last time.

Later we watched the football,  Brighton sadly lost! Mal’s horse in the National came second. Lunch is on him tomorrow!

After taking Ellie out we drove into Deal to the hospital to have my X ray. We have never been there before but at least discovered you don’t have to pay for parking there which is a bonus BUT they didn’t have the machine that I needed! We have to go to Canterbury for that! Another day.

Our replacement slo cooker arrived along with a post paid return label, so I packaged the smashed one and took it to the post office. What good service from Amazon!

Mal painted more of the walls up the stairs, not easy on the high bits!

We took Ellie out and then I went to meet Rhys for lunch. Mal’s brother Steve and Shirley were having a flying visit to Thanet so Steve stayed with Mal while Shirley went out to meet her friends.

Rhys and I went to Chiquito’s. I wasn’t impressed as they gave me cold uncooked broccoli. I like al dente but this was awful. The waiter took it away and then brought my salmon back and said to start eating that as he recooked the broccoli! It was the same bit of broccoli and quite honestly it was not at all fresh. I won’t be going back there in a hurry.  From there we walked to Sainsbury’s, I wanted a new radio and we found a really good Blaupunkt mini music centre on offer, so Rhys and I looked at all the different ones and bought one which was a third of the original price. I guess no one wants them anymore, I do.

We then sat and had a couple of coffees and a nice chat. They are all coming over to us on Easter Sunday. That will be 13 for lunch if Tariq manages to get home. That will be nice.

Later Mal set up the music centre, it has a good sound.

We took Ellie for a long walk, missing the rain.

It was then time to drive into Canterbury as I had an appointment to see the hygienist and also Penny the dentist. Hygienist first and she wanted to clean below the gums. I knew that was what she was going to do but on the last visit she told me should we give me anaesthetic, she didn’t. Ouch! That was not at all pleasant even though I took pain killers. Next I saw Penny and she was pleased with progress since the last visit. I have been referred to the periodontist but there is a long waiting list. I now have a letter for the hospital to have a full facial X ray.

I have been told my gum problems have happened due to stress/trauma. The body is a funny thing.

On the way back home we were really surprised when hail started to beat down on the car.  We thought it was Spring!

I left our dinner in the slow cooker. I replaced the old slow cooker we had and this was the second time I  used this one. We ate dinner, Mal put the lid into the washing up bowl and it shattered! I didn’t expect that! Mal contacted Amazon and they are sending a replacement. I think that is why we like Amazon so much, never a problem if there is something wrong.
