Year: 2019

We had a lot to do as the carpet man was coming at 9. So, as I am awake early, Ellie and I went out walking at 6.15. It was a lovely sun rise and we walked all along the river.

I was then starting to stress about the carpet man and all the state of the floors and so I went to Westwood and left Mal to it. I really can’t cope with stress well at the moment.

So shopping I went and came back mid afternoon and they were just finishing off. The carpet man had chopped up bits of floor, levelled it off and all sorts. Mal said nothing seemed too much of a problem for him. He is a really nice man who has been doing this for years, in fact his son works with him and he is handing over to him very soon as his knees are going!

Quite a busy day at Demelza. Mal continued with the painting. Rhys and Tariq came round to the house to move all the white goods ready for the new flooring to go down. That was nice of them so Mal didn’t have to do it.

Mal started taking the old flooring up and it was such a mess in the kitchen with glue sticking everywhere and the same in the utility room. There was also two different levels from the kitchen to the hallway and other problems.

Out for a walk with Ellie and then more painting.

Late afternoon we went to Theatre Royal in Margate to watch the Easter panto with Lou, Ollie, Oscar, Josie and Tris and Violet came too. It’s Wicked Productions and they are always very good. It is the same company that perform the Christmas panto.

We walked Ellie and today spotted a total of 9 ducklings on the river. The sun was out but a cold wind.

We met Tris and Violet for lunch in Ramsgate. It was Violet’s birthday the previous day so we gave her all her presents. We had a nice lunch outside overlooking the beach.

From there we went to Petticoat Lane to have a look at all the stalls.

A good result for Spurs followed by Man U and Hammers! Mal didn’t want to watch.

We took Ellie out and discovered more ducklings along the river, so sweet.

I bought masking tape for the decorating from our local hardware store, thinking it would be the best and it is pulling the paint off. Nightmare!

In the evening we went to Margate, Theatre Royal, to see Coco and Butterfields.

They are an amazing band and Dulcima has a great voice.

We saw the first of this years ducklings on the river when we walked Ellie.

Mal continued painting when we were back home and I walked round to the town. There is a small market on Thursdays but it is always good to buy flowers there.

I also posted the Easter things to Scarlet and Jack to make sure they receive them by Easter. Well at least I hope they do. I wouldn’t know if their mother lets them have the things we send to them. She may even put them in the bin! This time in the card Mal wrote that he hopes we see them one day soon as we are getting old!

We keep records and photos of everything we send them, proof in years to come that we never forgot them and tried our best.

A nice walk in the sunshine but the wind was very cold.

I met up with the Ramsgate Red Hatters for lunch at Lesters in Margate.  We always have a good time.

Mal was at home busy painting the woodwork on the stairs and upstairs landing.
