I went to Westwood shopping, added to my list…main crop potatoes, onions and sweet peas! I went into Wilko and they had just reduced all their potatoes to 10p per kilo!! That was well timed. 

As soon as I was back home, Mal left for the allotment.

There are a lot of events that go on in Sandwich. I am sure we will go to most of them. We used to come to them anyway but now we won’t have to think about parking!

Mal wanted to get his hair cut and his barber is in Broadstairs, so Ellie in the back of the car and I dropped him off and Ellie and I went to Stone Bay. It was so nice and sunny and very few people there. Ellie does like burying her ball and having a dig as well as swimming. Mal wasn’t long before he joined us….his barber was on holiday!

Needless to say Mal spent the rest of the day at the allotments. I caught up with masses of ironing.

We took Ellie to the park and I popped into the Co op. So nice to have a shop so handy.

Mal went on the list for Sandwich allotments and they told him there was a long waiting list. Last week they told him he was number 2 and if the first person was no longer interested than they would offer it to him.  It seems people put their names down and then lose interest and today he has been offered plot 47!! It doesn’t take much to make him happy!! He is over the moon and hopefully this allotment won’t be full of hungry rabbits as the Preston one was.

Lunchtime I went off to meet the rest of the Red Hatters as it is the 20th birthday of the Red Hatters so we had our own celebration at Strawberry Fields in Birchington. Jackie made us such a lovely cake but we had so much cake with our afternoon tea, the owner of the coffee house boxed some of the cakes for us to take home. A really nice lady owns the coffee house. We were a bit noisy and she didn’t mind at all!

Mal enjoyed the cake I brought home. We took a walk round to his new allotment. There’s a lot of work to do but there are some strawberry plants and raspberry canes too and an apple tree!

We decided to walk to Sandwich Bay. It is a lovely walk where the public footpath goes across the golf course. It’s lovely to be within walking distance of the sea. Ellie loved the swim in the sea but unfortunately decided to jump in the river on the way back and that was really muddy so we had to hose her down when we arrived home.

 We did stop at the Sandwich shop in town for a coffee on the way home. It was quite a walk but we loved it.

 
After lunch we took some things to the dump and then went and bought a new bistro set for the garden as one of the chairs had broken on ours and it was going rusty. I also looked for a mint plant but no one seemed to have one. I should have dug my mint up from Preston.

Demelza day and Canterbury was very quiet, not many people around at all. I bought a picture from the shop. We have a lot still in boxes but some of them just don’t go in this house! We really must sort more out. I did donate a few things to the shop……lots more to go!

We went down to the park with Tris, Violet and Ellie after eating breakfast.

They headed back for London and we went over to Lou and Rhys’s for a Sunday roast. River and Sol were there too with their girlfriends.

We had a lovely lunch and then went for a walk along the beach. Oscar went swimming in the sea!

Of course Ellie had to join him.
