We asked the twins where they would like to go and they both said Wingham Wildlife Park, So, after walking Ellie we went off and took a packed lunch. They have a lot of ghosts and ghoulies around the park, ready for Halloween.

After looking at the animals, we went into the soft play area. They do love it in there. That was the next two hours!

Scarlet and Jack watched Zootopia in the evening.

Torin and I went to Chicksands woods with the three dogs.

Mid morning we brought the twins back for half term. Tris and Violet were visitng Margate for the day so we went straight to the beach to meet them. We had fun on the beach and they also had quad bike racing and off road bikes which Jack loved watching.

We stayed at the sea front until Tris and Violet had to catch the train back to London.

Back home eventually, Ellie seemed worn out after running all around the beach. The kids weren’t!!

We took Ellie out and then packed a few things and drove to Torin’s. Mal and Torin spent most of the afternoon talking “gadgets”.

We went to Stevenage in the evening and ate at Taste Oriental. It is an open buffet and I think Torin and I possibly ate our body weight in King Prawns! Mal ate a lot too and he had far too many desserts!

It was very good food and so many desserts, no wonder Torin often takes Scarlet and Jack there! There is a whole display of sweets, jelly beans and all you can imagine to add to your dessert!

We had a good evening.

I was awake at 3.45 and went outside to see the Orionids meteor shower. I managed to see a shooting star even though the moon was very bright and it was quite cloudy. Patience rewarded me.

Quite a lot later (Mal wanted to stay in bed during the meteor showers), we took Ellie out.

I went shopping to Westwood  and also looked for some clothes but couldn’t find anything I really liked. But I have to say this sign made me laugh.

Mal has had a hacking cough since we have both had colds. It just won’t go away so I said I would buy him some Potters vegetable cough remover which has always worked. I couldn’t find it anywhere and so ended  up in Holland and Barrett. No, it has been “taken off the shelves”. It seems everything that used to work they now deem unfit for human consumption! It was the same with Kaolin and Morphine but I did manage to source that one. It seems the Potters one is no longer manufactured!! The pharmacist I returned to said it should have ipecacuanha in it. I did find one of the Covonia ones contained it.

We had our walk with Ellie, all the way through the woods. We both did a couple of “20 minutes slots” of things outstanding and then went out for afternoon tea, which was in fact our late lunch! It was a Groupon deal and we had a 20% off deal so in fact it only cost us £8 for tea for two at Wyevale Garden centre. We didn’t think it would be up to much but in fact we couldn’t finish it. I have to admit to having the clotted cream and scone but resisted the cakes, of course Mal didn’t. The sandwiches were very nice and fresh. Along with this was as much tea or coffee as you wanted. I think the three cups we had each would have been more than £4 for each of us!!

Apart from the afternoon tea, everything in the garden centre was overpriced. It was the one at Chartham and quite honestly, we wouldn’t bother visiting that one again. There is far more in the one at Ramsgate.

Ellie does love her orchard walks, a good run and she also loves the apples. I have to feed them to her as she isn’t allowed the cores.

There are a lot of mushrooms/toadstools everywhere we go.

I went into Sandwich in the morning and Mal went to the allotment.

It’s very strange having lost my friend Glenda, we mailed each other every day and she loved all my photos I sent her. They certainly do things quickly in the US. Her funeral is tomorrow.

Spring has to be my favourite season but I do love the colours of autumn.

We had a our walk through Preston orchards and the woods. The majority of the apples have been collected and as we past Judy’s house she was busy pressing them for the juice.

I have decided to help out at Demelza’s charity shop in Canterbury and having completed an application form, I had to go in and see the Manager in the morning. I have chosen Demelza’s as  it is one of the smaller charities and also because I consider myself lucky that our family, children wise is relatively healthy and I can only imagine how difficult it must be for the parents who use the hospice. Plus, they are desperate for volunteers! The Manager is lovely and I start on a week Monday. It would have been next Monday but we are having the twins to stay for the week.

It was such nice weather in the afternoon that I took Ellie out for a long walk. It was too nice to stay indoors.

 

We eventually arrived at Mal’s allotment, just as he was finishing for the day.

A sad day when I heard that my good friend Ken’s father passed away and also my friend Glenda in Nashville. Rest In Peace both of you. My condolences to both families.
