We arrived back home at 1.30am. Not too bad as the roads were quite empty. But of course we didn’t have any outside lights on so it was a bit of a struggle getting the cases down the drive in the dark! It must have been sunny here as my solar lights were sparkling in the back garden!

For some unknown reason, apart from the fact it would be 7 in Cyprus, I was awake and up at 5am! Mal ignored me until much later. We went shopping and then collected Ellie from Lou and Rhys’s. She was so excited to see us but then she sulks a bit when she is home because we left her!

I have just read that there was a car fire in the Dartford Tunnel last night. That explains the horrendous queues on the other side of the M25  when we were coming home. We expected the roads to be empty and thankfully our direction was, not so for the other side.

Mal went to the allotment and brought a lot of vegetables back along with some raspberries. We have loads of tomatoes and basil in the garden too, so it was home made tomato and basil soup for lunch

Ellie tried to ignore me, until the evening, when she came and lay with her head on my feet! I think she has forgiven me now.

We caught up on a couple of TV programmes in the evening, Strictly of course!

Our last day in nc for a while. As usual the time has flown by. Another beautiful sunny day.

I went to Atakara early for some fresh bread and also Cyprus Today. This is rather a cynical view on its contents! I frequently wonder why I spend the 5tl! One of the letters in CT is about a doubling of the price of water. I think Mal and I were concerned about this many years ago when there was talk of the pipeline from Turkey, so it hasn’t surprised us at all. Turkey in control of the water?? That didn’t appeal to either of us for we feel obvious reasons.

Mal was out in the morning attacking the bougainvillea, it has got a little out of hand! Obviously it does extremely well without water.

I brought over a new line for my rotary drier so he is replacing that too, now we can see it! When Mal sliced his finger with his pen knife cutting the line, I told him to give up as he was trying to do too much.

Nothing planned for the evening and so we thought we would give Charcos a try as they were fully booked last time we went. Yes, there was space for us! Funnily enough Margaretha came on the off chance too, along with two of her friends so they sat at the table next to us so we could all chat.

This has to be one of our favourite restaurants. Christina is so lovely and apologised for being fully booked last time and she said the worst thing was 20 minutes after we left, a table cancelled but she didn’t have my phone number. Never mind, Torin missed out but we had a lovely meal. I had levrek (sea bass) and it was huge. That would have been enough but starter and desert are included in the price and the lentil soup was excellent and nice and spicy.

All the art work is Christina’s. She did tell us that there has been a lack of tourists this summer, just her regulars because I guess tourists can’t find it. It is not that easy but well worth the effort. If people come to north Cyprus surely this is the sort of restaurant they have come here for, real Cypriot cuisine.

We thoroughly enjoyed it anyway.
