Friday 12th August 2022

Out with the dogs early, there is a mist over the fields when we go. Quite honestly as I always say, it is the best time of the day.

Marlene met some new friends!

I went to the shops to get the last bits for our chilli courgette chutney.  Mal started chopping everything and then we realised we shouldn’t have doubled the quantities as it overflowed from our TWO slow cookers and one of them is huge!

Of course it cooks down quite quickly, thankfully! It’s a very easy way to make chutney.

Looks as though they are having fun!

Wednesday 10th August 2022

An early morning walk with the dogs. Marlene does love watching the squirrels!

Meanwhile in Menorca……………

I hope they have a brilliant holiday.

I went off to Aldi and bought some things I needed to make Spicy Courgette Chutney, worth a try as we have so many courgettes.

Another afternoon in the garden with the dogs.

Tuesday 9th August 2022

Marlene was awake early and so we were up and out with her.

Mal went to the allotment, more weeding. I sat in the garden with the dogs. Marlene is settling in really well but whines when she decides she is hungry!

Monday 8th August 2022

Mal walked Ellie while I went into Ramsgate to return some online things.  I ended up coming back with far more! A new summer shirt and shorts for Mal and some white cutoffs for me. All in the sales.

Fuel has gone down again . The Gulf garage it is now 177.99, a little more expensive than the supermarkets.

Then we took Ellie to “Fatclub” at the vets, not really, Meghan the nurse just weighs her. She has now lost almost 6 kilos and is down to 31.5kg . It is a slow weight loss on purpose but Meghan said it is the best she has so, Ellie is her star pupil! We are aiming for 30kg so booked to see Meghan again in 2 months. Ellie loves going there, she hated our old vets and I had to drag her in, not at this one, she rushes through the door and jumps on the settee.

Late afternoon Marlene arrived for her holiday. She is staying with us while Lou and Rhys and the kiddlies go on their holiday to Minorca.  I think she has made herself at home.

Sunday 7th August 2022

We drove with Ellie to Kearsney Abbey, again before the heat was too bad so we left early.

She was straight in the water and then rolled in the mud on the edge!

We went out again at lunchtime, leaving Ellie at home, too hot for her. There was a 50’s weekend on in Sandwich. Most of it was ticketed but there were a couple of outside stages but only recorded music playing when we went there. They had some food stalls but we decided to go to our favourite down by the river, the Quayside Street Kitchen and had a “different” Sunday lunch there!

We then watched Man U and Hammers…..both losers!

Saturday 6th August 2022

We took Ellie to St Mildred’s Bay for her Beach Buddies morning.

She loves it there and comes home exhausted.

Lou and Josie came round later and stayed for lunch. They brought Marlene with them so we could walk her around the field, to get her used to the smells ready for next week.  The boys were out cleaning cars and Rhys was working. We are looking after her for their two weeks holiday, so she will have her own little holiday here.

Later we watched the Spurs game. We are now top of the table!
