Sunday 21st August 2022

I am not sure what the young gull wanted with this flower pot but he flew off with it!

Marlene was entertained by him anyway!

In the afternoon we watched the Hammers game. Oh dear they lost. But a very good Man City v Newcastle game followed.

Mal cooked a Sunday roast. He seems to like cooking roasts.

Friday 19th August 2022

Our walk went along Rope Walk and the dogs spent some time duck watching!

We made another batch of chutney, this time courgette and tomato, even the apples came from the allotment.

We also have so much garlic so we are preserving that too. We had a little rain. Every day is a school day, today we learnt  the smell of rain on dry land………….petrichor.

Thursday 18th August 2022

A nice walk in the morning. Marlene is alert all the time being a sight hound but so far she hasn’t yanked Mal’s arm off!

It seems she is on full alert when  both ears are up!  She does love watching the squirrels.

Later, when sitting in the garden two F15 fighter jets flew very low overhead. I didn’t know what planes they were, only found out from the news later and they were American.

Wednesday 17th August 2022

We had a few spots of rain in the night, not a lot at all.

Lunchtime I met up with the Red Hatters. I wore my new Lucy Hodge hat. I should say new to me, I bought it in a charity shop in Hythe and when I was shocked at the price, it was up high so I couldn’t see the price immediately, they told me “Well it is a Lucy Hodge”. None the wiser and after working in Demelza I thought I knew a lot of the expensive labels. It was for charity, so I bought it and today was its first outing.

We had a good meeting but again Jackie and I suggest places to go and no one seems very keen! It seems they just want to lunch.

It was nice seeing everyone. I think Marlene had missed me by the time I got back, she went mad jumping around everywhere.

Tuesday 16th August 2022

Lou, Rhys and co had a good night out the previous night.

So pleased they are enjoying themselves while Marlene is enjoying her holiday, she even met another of her own kind.

In the garden in the afternoon.

Sunday 14th August 2022

Marlene never forgets where she sees a squirrel!

We defrosted the fridges and freezer. I have been running the food down, to ensure it will all be fresh when we refill.

The Hammers game in the afternoon, they lost. Followed by Spurs 2-2 and at the end both Managers red carded! Oh dear. That doesn’t happen in the Ladies football!

Saturday 13th August 2022

Out with the dogs early. Mal has been having a run with Marlene as we can’t let her off the lead. Obviously he can’t run as fast as she does!

Lou, Rhys and the kids are paddle boarding!

We watched the Man U game, it was awful. I did text Rhys to ask if he was watching it. He gave up after 15 minutes…very wise!

The rest of the evening we sat in the garden with a drink or two.
