We took Ellie to George V park for a nice walk.

From there I dropped Mal off in Margate to meet Brian and investigate the art classes that I found out about last week. On his return in the afternoon, he was so impressed with the art class. Brian tailors it to each individuals need and Mal had taken some of his drawings in so he could see where he was up to. It also has the benefit of the fact you can go when you want to, unlike KCC courses, if you are away one week, you still have to pay.  Mal was impressed!

Monday 8th November 2021

I went shopping, looking for Christmas presents and also a birthday present. I managed the birthday and three Christmas presents. A long way to go still. It takes so much effort.

Mal spent more time at the allotment, moving more wood chippings.

Sunday 7th November 2021

We drove to Kearsney Abbey. I love the colours of the trees this time of year. Ellie loves meeting all the other dogs and running in the stream, followed by rolling in the mud!

We went and had a coffee and met a couple with THREE goldies. I told them that was greedy! The lighter one is blind, a beautiful dog who they were told should be put to sleep as they thought it was a neurological problem. Well, she is now 11!! They recommended a dog sitter which we are looking for, for when River and Maddie get married and we will be away for the weekend.

I cooked a roast with Mal’s nero kale, parsnips and broccoli from the allotment. Parsnips always taste sweeter after a frost but we will put up with them being organic and no frost.

A poor Spurs game followed by an excellent Hammers game much to Mal’s delight.

Saturday 6th November 2021

We took Ellie along Rope Walk, bought the paper and then started “catching up” on everything.

We watched the Manchester derby, not good from Man U.

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon and brought back some Nero Kale and the first of the parsnips. There were a lot of wood chips there, so he barrowed a lot as they disappear quickly.

Friday 5th November 2021

The three of us walked Ellie over the fields and then Marion came back and packed. I drove her to the station for the train home and then did my food shop on the way back.

Rhys had to work and Lou needed some peace and quiet to do an assignment for Uni, so I went to collect Ollie, Oscar and Josie in the afternoon. We had tea first.

We then drove over to Broadstairs for their firework display. We arrived just before 6pm when we thought it started and were amazed that we found it so easy to park. As we walked towards the beach we realised why….it didn’t start until 8pm. They had a group playing in the bandstand.

We bought some drinks and waited and yes it was cold!

It was well worth the wait.

We all thoroughly enjoyed it, even if we were a little cold!

Thursday 4th November 2021

Ollie’s 15th birthday.

We all went with Ellie for a long walk in King Edward park, having a coffee as we walked round.

Ollie decided he wanted to have his birthday meal at Raise, the Chinese in Sheerness and we were invited. It was Sheerness because that is where Rhys goes for his school run every day and so he would already be there. It was a long drive and so much traffic. It took us nearly two hours. Maddie and River came too. We had a lovely meal and birthday cake and then of course I had the drive back, thankfully much quicker than going!

Wednesday 3rd November 2021

I think we exhausted Ellie the previous day, so we walked her across the fields and then went to Birchington, leaving her behind. There are some nice shops there which we had a wander around and then I drove on to Cliftonville to the Walpole Bay Hotel which I thought Marion may enjoy.

We had a really good cup of coffee each and then went to look round the museum. This is no ordinary museum, a sort of a living museum. You go up in the old lift to the third floor.

Then just work your way down to view so many old things! They also have a Napery Gallery. It is really fascinating but Marion and I both kept saying, “don’t you remember Nanny had one of those”, showing how old we are!

After all that we went for a wander around the “hipster” part of Margate. In King Street we came across a very interesting building where they give art classes and also sell crafts. We went in to talk to the artist as Mal is looking for art classes and can’t find exactly what he wants. This guy sounds ideal and does the classes to raise money for kids with learning difficulties. So, I was really pleased I stumbled upon this. I took all his details for Mal.

Mal came back in the afternoon. He seemed pleased about the art classes and will pursue it next week.

We had a quiet evening.
