I was at Demelza for the day.  Fran was away and so was Jack and so it was just Kerry and I in the afternoon.

Our morning walk took over two hours, so many people stopping and chatting, mostly with dogs!

We then went to Margate and met up with Jemma and Dom and family . Jemma and Dom have just come back from India/Cambodia and many places in between. We had lunch with all of them, really nice to see them after all this time.

Later we returned to the Sandwich Folk and Ale, this time Ellie joined us.

Sandwich Folk and Ale continues. It was a lovely sunny day. We left Ellie at home as it seemed too warm to drag her around as she really doesn’t like the heat.

We had a good time there and then came back to ours and we did afternoon tea! Grandad managed to drop strawberry jam off his scone, all down his shirt!

Shopping very early in the morning, then watching a lot of tennis.

Early evening Mal and I went round to the cemetery and cleaned Torin’s headstone and put fresh flowers there, some bright yellow ones so it looks really nice and bright. The cemetery is really well looked after and they mow the lawn often but sometimes it sticks to the headstone.

It was the beginning of Sandwich Folk and Ale weekend and so later we went out. The Red Cow first but they had the band indoors and we wanted to sit in the garden, we could just about hear the music. We then walked to the Crispin for another band.

The sky was very pretty on the walk to the river.

We did stop at the chip shop!

Lou and Rhys’s 9th wedding anniversary. I say it time and again, where does the time go? It was such a lovely day. How the boys have all grown.

We took Ellie to Minnis Bay for a swim.

It must be near the end of the school year as loads of kids from London come down for a day at the seaside. They were having so much fun.

We then went out for lunch to the 5 Bells at Eastry. Mal enjoyed his dessert! It was so big! He does love chocolate!

More tennis in the afternoon/evening. A good match with Nadal and Kyrgios.

Mal continues his campaign against the decision to ban dogs at the nature reserve. He has found out the decision was made at a very small meeting, led by a farmer. Other counties allow dogs on leads in nature reserves so he has now appealed and asked for evidence that dogs on leads are any more problem than, eg a group of kids leaving their litter everywhere , as we experienced last time we walked through there.

We took Ellie for a walk and chatted to some tourists who wanted to know their way around, to beaches, river etc. This often happens and they all say how lovely Sandwich is.

I had a hair appointment at lunchtime. It’s a lovely salon, now changed its name to the Hive but Katie still owns it and does my hair. Today we all had a special treat with our coffee as it is Wimbledon.

 

Sad to see that Lopez has been knocked out.

In the evening we called over to see Lou and Rhys.
