Year: 2019

My third visit to the grief counsellor. She is extremely good.

From there I went to Westwood to get some shopping.

We seem to be attracting butterflies into the garden as well as the bees.

Early evening we took Ellie back to the vets to have her wound checked. She has done so well and not even touched it and that was without a babygro or collar of shame. The vet was very pleased BUT she has to rest for another week. That won’t please her, she is desperate to go running but as she warned us, we don’t let her rest then fluid will collect and we will be taking her back in to get it drained. No, we don’t want that as I had to drag her in last night and she stood shaking! She does not like it there!

The bees seem to be enjoying my passion flowers in the garden.

My day at Demelza. It poured with rain on the way back from lunch and I got       soaked as I left my mac in the shop! We had quite a lot of donations but once the rain started we had fewer customers.

Tariq gets up as early as we do and so it was breakfast, dog walking, well, just the field and back for Ellie. She looked quite sad because she couldn’t join Roddie on the long walk. When the boys came back, they started sorting the wood around the windows. It all needs painting but I really didn’t want Mal up a ladder. Tariq is much better at it!! Mal can do ground level.

I cooked a roast with all the trimmings which Tariq loved. He does love his food(and hates me taking photos of him!!)

We watched the Man U game late afternoon. Tariq is sooo loud, shouting at the players etc etc . I’m so glad they won!

He finished the painting after the football and then went home as his girlfriend was flying back from her holiday. What a tidy Marine, he stripped all his bed and all the dirty linen, towels etc were all neatly folded in a pile.

It is so nice having Tariq here. He mentioned to Rhys that he remembers me cooking breakfast sandwiches that he loved. In fact it was something Torin used to cook. He was always dreaming up lots of tasty things/meals. Torin was a very talented cook. Rhys is too but I don’t think he has time any more. That’s one bonus of bringing up two boys on my own, they could both cook well. So, the sandwiches………smoked bacon, sliced mushrooms cooked with garlic and blue cheese. Yes, they are delicious but full of calories! Mal and Tariq both enjoyed them.

We took the dogs to the field opposite and then I had to bring Ellie home. Mal and Tariq took Roddie for a longer walk which Ellie isn’t allowed to do yet.

We watched the Hammers game together and the three of us decided football is now being spoilt by new rules and the VAR every few minutes. Hammers lost anyway, even though they made a promising start for the first 25 minutes.

BUT a good Spurs game. Later we watched ‘Four weddings and a funeral’ which Tariq had never seen before. He enjoyed it.

I didn’t have a very good nights sleep as I had Ellie sleeping next to the bed. It was so very warm in the bedroom that I didn’t want Ellie to have to wear the “babygro” which meant every time I heard a licking noise, I was up and checking she wasn’t touching her dressing.  She didn’t but then she was still a little drowsy from the anaesthetic.

More pain killers for her in the morning but she wasn’t in a rush to get up. Mal prepared to take Roddie out and of course she wanted to go. I was only going to take her to the field opposite, very close  to our house but she got there and lay down and looked at the wound. I think because she had been so still she hadn’t realised the stitches would pull. Back home and she slept again.

Tariq arrived later in the day, he has come to stay for the weekend. It’s so lovely to have him here, after all grandchildren have their own interesting lives especially in the Marines!

In the evening we watched the Liverpool v Norwich game. Not good.

Ellie is being so good so far and not attacking her wound.  Thank goodness I haven’t had to use the medical shirt.

I got to thinking last night about teeth and the dentist and was very confused about what I am being referred for and where I should be going. So, I decided to ring Penny the dentist. It seems she is as confused as I am UNLESS something has happened and all the departments have changed without her knowing! She will get back to me.

It was Ellie’s operation day so we had to starve both dogs in the morning! Of course Roddie had his food as we left.  We took Ellie at 10 and they let us stay with her while she had her pre med. That was after she slipped her collar and ran into the car park instead of into the surgery!!

The surgery went well and now we have to keep her quiet for 24 hours, bless her. We return to the vets on Tuesday. Because the weather is so warm, I am trying not to put the ‘babygro’ on her. It is to avoid her getting to the wound, so I’ll just watch her instead.

I had an appointment with the hygienist at 12.30. They called and said could I change it to earlier, so a quick dog walk and then we drove into Canterbury. The hygienist did her work. Yes, it was painful. They had referred me to maxillo facial and told me I would be going to Deal. I have had the letter and it seems I am now going to William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, instead which they were quite surprised by.  But that is at the end of September. I really don’t want to think about that yet!

It was quite windy and my sunflowers started  bending in the breeze. I was having a competition with the littlies, I gave them one each in a pot. Mine have just gone crazy and still don’t have a flower yet! They are way above the fence and as Mal says by the time the flowers open we will have to go upstairs to see them!
