Mal and I were just having breakfast when we saw a new visitor on our bird feeder.

I went off to work at Demelza. It’s surprising what you see there. Today we had a visit from the “Vintage Pram Society.” They evidently do a tour around the area and collect money for Demelza. The “babies” in the prams looked a bit scary.

It’s quite amazing the way some people fill their days! It was a busy day in the shop, so the day flew by.

The church bells were going again this morning, quite a pleasant melody once you get used to it! So that was yesterday, today and Tuesday night bell ringing practice.

We went off for our walk across the fields.

 
I then took Mal to the farm shop to buy some vegetable plants as so many of his have been eaten (rabbits and mice) so a bit late to plant from seed. I then dropped him off at the allotment.

Another wedding in the afternoon, out on the lawn opposite and some lovely orchestral music being played! Very nice on a Sunday afternoon. There is mega money to be made in weddings!! 

A quiet Sunday which was nice. Rhys has been working hard as it is the Oyster Festival in Whitstable and he was the only Hackney cab working today. He said he has only had 6 hours sleep since Thursday morning. He is a hard worker. 

Rhys told me all about the Whitstable Grotters I have to admit I hadn’t heard about it before.

Happy Birthday Torin!

We took Ellie out for her walk and then went back to Go Outdoors to buy the rest of our camping stuff. Yes, we are going to give it a try this week (I am NOT going if it is raining!) Mal has booked it all and he said that he will do the cooking and everything, so I can just sit and sip wine! Sounds good to me. It is so many years since either of us has camped. We were so impressed with the staff at Go Outdoors, all so helpful and friendly and we happened upon the Manager and complimented him on such a good store. He worked his way up and so knows how to treat staff and it works. I am a complainer when things are wrong so credit where it is due. He seemed quite pleased with our comments. They even allow dogs in the store and have food and water at the entrance! 

We arrived home following the bridal car down our road to the church!! The vicar was standing at our gate telling us to overtake the car but we had to explain he was standing where we live and of course the bridal car stops right outside our gate ! They were having the reception at Preston Court opposite so the boys and girls were waiting for them to come out of the church and welcome them with Pimms or champagne!  This was from our front window and Mal was about to leave for the allotment in all his scruffs. A good thing I realised they were just leaving the church.

A nice day and so we headed to Minnis Bay with Ellie. I think the beach will be a little busier next week!

 
Ellie is funny, if there are too many waves then she won’t go out and fetch her ball. A good thing the sea was warm!!

We then went into Canterbury to Go Outdoors as Torin bought me some new walking boots for my birthday and I wanted some waterproof spray for them (getting very organised for winter!). Well, then I found a nice 3 in 1 waterproof coat, which I bought. Mal had wandered off and looking at tents. At this stage I think madness overtook us and we bought a 4 berth tent!! We just thought it may be fun. We may regret this at some time in the future.

Mal spent the rest of the day locating camp sites where we could possibly stay in the very near future! This will be fun!

Happy Peace and Freedom Day to all those in TRNC. I used to love watching the Turkish Stars who always seemed much riskier than the Red Arrows. We always had previews for a couple of days prior to their display when they practised  over the villa. This is one of my favourite photos of them flying over the flag in the north.

Mal was busy doing his teaching teachers online and so I took Ellie thinking I would miss the rain. We got caught out in it and of course I didn’t have a coat. 

It cleared up later in the day so we spent the afternoon in the garden.

In the evening we went to The Dog in Wingham for dinner. We had a Groupon lunch there a while back. Groupon advertised a very comprehensive menu but when we went along for lunch the menu was a choice of two starters and two mains. None were very exciting and so we complained to Groupon as it wasn’t as advertised. The Dog sent us a £20 voucher and Groupon credited our account with £10!! You certainly can’t be fairer than that. We also had another voucher for a 3 course dinner there. This time the meal was perfect. Crab for starter and sea bream for main, so good! They had treated us so well I even tried one of their 44 gins! Now that’s a boast not many local pubs can compete with.

As people know I am a deal hunter and Groupon is an excellent place to start as for food it is often places that are new or have changed hands and so you often get 50% off deals. I don’t see the point of paying full price if you can get it for less!!

Wow what a storm we had during the night. It felt as though the house was shaking. Ellie doesn’t usually bother about storms but came and scratched at the side of the bed this time! It even woke her up.

We went for our walk around the orchards. Some of the apricots have been picked and it looks as though there will be another bumper apple harvest, whatever the farmers tell you!

I bought Ellie a huge knuckle bone and gave it to her today. She sniffed at it and then promptly buried it somewhere in the garden! She’ll dig it up again sometime.

Mal was at the allotment again, catching up with the weeding.

We watched Joanna Lumley’s “India” in the evening. That has been an interesting series.

Ellie and I were awake early and so I took her straight out for a walk. We were expecting our smart meter to be commissioned today and so had to wait in later. As it was he rang at 8 and said he would be here within half hour. Good service. Well, it was good service but the meter was faulty which was why the previous engineer was unable to commission it last time. No luck, a third person will have to come out another time!

Ellie decided that she would catch the mole she smelt!

I went into Birchington as I had cards and things to buy and didn’t get a chance in Canterbury as we were short staffed, as usual, the previous day. Again it was just Jack and I in the afternoon. On my way back from Birchington, the Hare Krishnas were at the end of our road with their oxen, banging their drums and dancing. I can’t think what they are doing in our village, hardly on the route to Folkestone!  

An afternoon in the garden, mostly watching the greedy birds. We get so many on the bird feeder.
