We had a late night last night, came home from the concert and then sat chatting for ages! So for a change we didn’t wake until 8 and then had breakfast before going out which is unusual for us, we are usually up and out! Serves us right by the time we arrived at Minnis Bay it had started raining. The tide was a long way out and Ellie decided to jump all through the mussel beds where it was muddy. It was OK walking one way along the beach but the other way, the wind was bitter. Today was for serious dog walkers and we weren’t the only ones down there.

An afternoon watching football. Chelsea did well. I was pleased  they won because Torin went to London to watch them.

Call us cynical but we always thought that it wasn’t a good idea for Turkey to control the water in the TRNC. Now the water may be contaminated? Our water came from the waterfall just up the road but I guess that doesn’t happen now.

Back in the UK, there was a news item on the TV about tumble driers catching on fire. We have contacted the manufacturers and they are coming to check ours in JUNE!!!! Yes I do always clean it after each use. When we purchased the tumble dryer we took out insurance with D&G (Domestic & General). At first they said to just take the fluff out and wait until June. Mal then told them it was not safe as so many have caught alight. They are coming next Wednesday and are going to replace the part!

In the evening we went into Canterbury to The Marlowe theatre to see the Grandaddy of folk music, Martin Carthy. He was gigging with John Kirkpatrick who I reckon I haven’t seen since 1971!! You could actually tell that it was the first gig of their tour, a few mistakes and Martin forgot the words a couple of times , just like the rest of us but I think he is 70 now! But it was a lovely atmosphere and we had excellent seats.

Canterbury is a lovely city, you can see the cathedral from the outside of the theatre.

No rain for a while so Mal had made his mind up to have today as an allotment day. Then we woke up to a thick frost.

Everywhere looked very pretty but it was a little chilly standing in the middle of our road chatting to our neighbours from Further down, Sue and Dave. We were talking about films and none of us could think of an actors name in a film and then Dave said he was the one who was married to ?????  At least the four of us all seem to be having old timers memory loss. Next conversation “and Sue couldn’t remember the DJ’s name who comes on after Chris Evans”. Who is he? Four of us standing there with complete memory loss and in fits of laughter. We carried on our walks in opposite directions and it came to me ….Ken Bruce.   So Mal yelled out at the top of his voice “Ken Bruce”. What do the say about if you don’t use it you lose it. I think that may have happened to our brains.

In the afternoon we went to De Bradlei Wharf in Dover. We couldn’t find anything to buy! That’s very unusual for us.

We went to Wingham. Mal planted some seeds in his allotment and I hobbled around just one orchard, a short walk because of my ankle and then sat on the seat in Elgar’s field and threw the ball for Ellie.

There is no cash card dispenser in our village or in Wingham. If you want cash without driving for miles,the Post Office in Wingham will let you have it but of course you have to catch him when the post office is open. We did today and then went to the farm shop so Mal could buy some peas in bulk for his other allotment.

We took Ellie to Minnis Bay, the least muddy option.

I still feel in shock about my friend so went to Westwood for some retail therapy but couldn’t find anything I wanted! I thought at least I would find a new red hat for the redhatters. Nor could I find any purple clothes. So, it was just Sainsburys and some more seeds for Mal’s allotment.

In the evening we went into Canterbury. For my Valentine present(!) Mal bought me, well us both, life membership and 10 lessons for Ceroc. I had to have it early as this was a Groupon deal and I think the next two weeks we can’t go and there is a time limit when you have to use them by.

It’s held in a huge hall in Canterbury. Beginners have two hours of learning three new moves a week. The entire time you are learning, you keep moving around and swapping partners, obviously some have been going for a while and some are intermediates and some are the resident ‘Dance Taxis’, which means at least some people knew what they are doing! I have to say it was really good fun and “freestyle” went on until 11.30. Mal and I left after the lessons and 10 minutes freestyle before we were permanently crippled and yes I think we were the oldest there! My left ankle, which was already weak started swelling on the way home!! at least I have an extra week to rest it.

We were back home just in time to see Hammers win in extra time! One happy Mal!

Today my thoughts go out to a very special friend who is not at all well, hoping she will be better soon.

We went to Sandwich and there was a really cold wind, another storm we are obviously on the edge of.

I heard from Torin and it seems his ex, Karen has given him an ear bashing about swinging Jack around over the sea yesterday. I put the picture on Facebook as he was having so much fun and he couldn’t stop laughing. As if Torin would put his kids in danger!!

Sadly my dear friend passed away this evening. A very short battle with cancer. May she Rest in Peace.

We all had breakfast and then spent most of the morning at Minnis Bay. The sun was out and so there were a lot of people down there. The tide was also quite a long way in. I think I am going to have to buy a tide clock. The three dogs were in their element, swimming in the sea. It was windy!

and Jack just loved this “Do it again please daddy!”

We had a lovely time but all good things have to come to an end and they had to go home later in the afternoon. Ellie was exhausted!

We then watched Man U v Chelsea. A good result seeing as Torin supports Chelsea and Rhys supports Man U!
