Bargain – ideal for travelling, lightweight ceramic hair straighteners. I have just ordered some as my other ones are too big and too heavy.

The day the Olympic torch came to Margate!!

We had to be there. The crowds started and we couldn’t decide where to stand. Mal suggested as we had a while to wait and Tracey Emin was bringing the torch to the Turner Centre , we would go in there and have a coffee. Little did we know that as the “time” got nearer we were locked in the coffee shop along with Tracey Emin’s family (so much for security!) But this did mean that we had a grandstand view for all the action.

Tracey came along the sea front into the Turner centre for about 15 minutes, then handed the torch flame over to Karen Pickering who was a member of the British Swimming Squad from 1986-2005. The journey then continued on its way to Canterbury.

For those of you who are unaware Tracey Emin has a Turkish Cypriot father and was brought up in Margate. She has an exhibition on at the Turner Contemporary at the moment.

After all the excitment, what better than fish and chips on the sea front from Peter’s Fish Factory listening to the renditions of Chas and Dave “Dahn ter Margit”!  A bargain that was too…..£2.95 for haddock and chips.
