Bargain Eurostar Getaway.
We had a surprise when we received a text from Rhys at 6.30am saying they had given up on the camping idea and were driving back to Cardiff. They left the camp site at 4.30am when their tent was blowing everywhere and the wind was howling. There were evidently others packing up and leaving too. They had booked for tonight as well. Rhys is always winding me up so I thought he was joking until they sent photos of them on their way back home! They have an enormous tent and it was only its second outing but they said now they are finished with camping. No fun in the wet and wind with three under 5’s. That really was a shame as I was looking forward to seeing them all today.
Mal started back working and I cooked an enormous roasting joint that I had bought thinking the kids would still be here. I think we will be eating it all week.
In the afternoon the sun came out and Mal and I went for a long walk. There is a road by the side of the caravan site that leads straight into open country. We also walk past Tag Pet Rescue which Mal’s sister Debbie runs. We thought about calling in but knew Deb wouldn’t be there.
There was music on in the clubhouse all afternoon/evening and we thought about going in there but instead watched the Jubilee Concert. I think a wise decision as by the time the concert had finished, it was karaoke in the club house! Ugh! The concert – I have to say, I don’t think the oldies (eg Cliff) have the voices they used to. I did enjoy Alfie (Boe).
Thought for the Day – “Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. ~ Soren Kierkegaard
