I was up at 4.00 am and Chris ran me to Ercan airport for my flight to Stansted. I checked in and surprise, surprise, the plane wasn’t even there. It was an hour late and I do believe the pilot was trying to make time up as it was a bumpy flight and both landings we came screeching to a halt. I didn’t enjoy it one bit. Mal was at Stansted to meet me and we collected the hire car and drove to Torin’s house.

An early morning and a late night sitting chatting! I was so tired.

25p train tickets London to Birmingham

I went down to buy Cyprus Today. I drove past Atakara Petrol Station, chains across the front, so it is not looking good for the Petrol strike!

More cacti flowering this morning. I took a few photos and then the rain came down!

Update – 4.30pm – the petrol strike is over and petrol is down by 9 kurus! That was a little late for Chris who drove to the South as he was taking me to the aiport the following day and was low on fuel!

A BHS 24 hour bargain here.

Now here is an interesting article concerning the South.

In the morning I went to David and Kenny’s to have coffee and then back home for a swim.

I noticed there is another cactus about to flower. This must really be the best time of the year for the garden.

Bargains – UK Hotel rooms from £39 and Karcher Window vac

Chris came round in the morning and then I met Gwen and we went out for lunch. She had a place in mind but hadn’t been there before. Her neighbours Janet and Brian recommended it. It was in fact the Grand Hotel in Girne. I didn’t remember the name but it was a place we went to with Robin a while back and on that occassion the chef hadn’t turned up so we couldn’t eat there.

Walk down the main road in Girne, just past the cross roads and it is on your right hand side. They have a lovely roof terrace where we ate. I don’t know about their dinner menu but their lunchtime menu is very reasonable and it was good food.  So, we had a long lunch and then I drove Gwen back home, stopping at Ileli on the way home where I discovered the first seasons cherries, so I just had to buy some!

I heard from Mal in the evening, rain in the UK!

For those in North Cyprus who are not aware there is a petrol strike on and tonight people were queuing at the garages, blocking the roads, as they do!

Bargains – 25% off all week, one for the women and also another North Cyprus Holiday, with the 3rd week FREE.

I had one flower on my cactus yesterday and woke this morning to fiind all the rest had come out. Three of the cacti have flowered all at once. They look beautiful.

In the afternoon I watched the Man City game. Well, that was a tense one considering what was at stake. I don’t think Rhys and co will be happy that Man City have won the league. As for Barton (QPR) his behaviour was a disgrace.

Mal finished his meetings and back to the caravan.

Todays Bargain – 15% off shoes and handbags!

I was up early and I do miss my early morning walks. Instead I sat on the terrace looking at the beautiful view down to the sea and across to Turkey.

I went to Atakara to buy some fresh bread and Cyprus Today. I love the olive bread but I have to say, they seem to have shrunk along with when the price went up to 3tl each! Rather typical of here.

Later Lena rang me to ask if I was getting any water. To be honest I hadn’t noticed but when I went to the tank, realised that no we haven’t been getting any. Willy is going to investigate as it has been off for a couple of days. Perhaps they should harness some of the water that is pouring down in the ravine!  Not another summer without water after all that rain!

If you need a cheap cutlery set.

I managed to get some gardening done in the morning and then met “the girls” for lunch. We meet up once a month and catch up on all the news with each other. We met at Hannimeler. It was a very long lunch and lovely to see all the girls.

Mal rang in the evening and managed his meeting well. I don’t know how he gets straight back into heavy work mode almost as soon as he gets off the plane but he does!
