A Christmas Joke (or two) –

What would have happened if instead of the 3 wise men it were 3 wise women? Well, they wouldn’t have stopped to ask directions, delivered the baby, cleaned the stable and also taken a casserole! Ha ha.

Next one. A young boy asked his Grandad when he was his age what did he get for Christmas. Grandad replied “An orange and an apple.” Reply from grandson “WOW a mobile AND a computer!”

We took Rosie to the beach and then on the way back bought Cyprus Today see link. As Polly says “not much news in toytown.” We also bought an olive loaf for breakfast from Atakara..yummy!

For all you bargain hunters out there, look at this book, excellent for a stocking filler see link. It is also available on Kindle. I now have it on my Kindle.

In the evening we went to Baris Park in Girne for the Christmas party but didn’t stay right to the end for the fireworks, had a meal on the way home instead. If I am honest Baris Park seemed quite disorganised and nothing going to the plan they had previously announced.

Friday 16th December 2011

Rosie’s dew claw problem doesn’t seem to be bothering her at all as she chased the ball happily in the mountains.

An excellent deal for today – less than half price  see link. OR a brand new TV for £77.99 see link

I went back to the vets but she wasn’t there and her husband told me that she would be back at three in the afternoon. I decided to wait until tomorrow rather than making another journey back there.

I bought the Cyprus Star but quite honestly there was little ‘news’ in it. It was full of pre Christmas celebrations. I did find a few more bargains in Starling. I am sure this one is cheaper than the UK see link and remember they are saying alcohol is going up in January!

I heard some very sad news, for those of you who have ever read Cyprus 44 forum, Tom from Flight holiday passed away this morning. Our condolences go out to his family. He was an active member of 44 and extremely helpful when anyone had travel problems. He will be missed.  RIP Tom.

We should have been going out for a meal with Robin and Christa but Robin called to say that Christa has flu. By the time the evening came and we had the log burner going, it seemed far to cozy to go out!

Feeling stressed out, then look at this bargain see link A THIRD of the original price!

Thursday 15th December 2011

We walked Rosie and whilst she was chasing her ball, somehow she managed to rip her dew claw. Blood was dripping down her leg. When we arrived home, I bathed it all and will have to see how it goes. Sometimes they just heal themselves.

We went off to the vets to get Rosie some more tablets. She only had the Rymadil, not the condroitin, which will be in tomorrow. We took the Rymadil and she just said ‘pay tomorrow when you collect the others.’

On the way back we called into Acmenya market but whether it was because we arrived at 11 or not but there were not many stalls there. Maybe some of the stall holders have already left to go back to the UK for Christmas.

If you haven’t already bought all your Christmas cards, wrap or crackers, here is a good deal see link. You can always order online and then collect from the store. This is a good one if you are in the UK or want to send it as a Christmas present, 20% off London dinner and show for 2 see link.

Some of our pine trees have a lot of pine cones growing so maybe next year we can use our own on the fire and barbecue.

In the evening we watched most of the first series of ‘Rev’.

Wednesday 14th December 2011

We spent the day in the South. Margaretha took us, five of us in all. First stop Ikea, more expensive than the UK but at least we didn’t have to carry it back in our luggage! Coffee and a cake before we started shopping and then we all had lunch together.

We also went into Carrefour and bought A LOT of pork. At 2.90 euros a kilo a very good deal. On the way back towards the border we went into Metro supermarket. There were a lot of offers on drink there. We were really surprised to see Echo Falls White Zinfandel in there and cheaper than the UK!  Of course we had to buy some. For some reason the South didn’t seem quite as ‘Christmassy’ as usual. But we had a good day and are well stocked up now.

A great deal for today see link. Lots of gifts and experiences to choose from and NOW an extra 20% off and you also get a £10 evoucher to spend on your next order! For someone who wants to splash out on a really fantastic meal at Claridges see link. I wouldn’t mind that one myself if we were in the Uk long enough!

Tuesday 13th December 2011

More sun in the morning. I went to get some shopping and pay the water bill. It still had our old address on it so I am guessing someone somewhere  will know that we have paid for our new address!!

In the summer I had a couple of my rings made bigger as when it was hot my fingers swell. Now, this time of year they are swimming on me. I’m not sure there is a solution to this one.

Rhys sent me the picture of Cardiff…snow there already but I bet the kids love it.

I spent the entire day sorting bargains. There are so many at the moment and some of the shops have started sales online already. One here for anyone who has forgotten a card, free postage as well see link. Another good one for ladies clothes see link.

13th Dec. Snow in Cardiff!

Monday 12th December 2011

Another lovely sunny day.

We had a bit of a problem in the morning. The restaurant which we were going to for Christmas lunch haven’t decided whether they are going to open or not on Christmas Day as they are usually shut on Sunday. We decided that we would have to make alternative arrangements before everywhere was booked and we would end up having nowhere to go. It is lucky that we did as 5 places  we rang were “fully booked”. It wouldn’t have mattered so much if it was just Mal and I but there are 5 of us going together. A good thing we made a decision today.

One of todays bargains that I thought was a really good one for anyone who knows a golfer see link and it is only £29.

Sunday 11th December 2011

It was a bit chilly when we woke up but the sun was out at the beach and a lot of fishermen were down there. Rosie as you can see had a good run!

The hunters were out again and thank you to the hunters who showered me with shot, some landed in the pool too! Obviously the ‘too close’ law is there for the breaking.

It seems as though a lot of people in the UK are getting ‘bugs’. Torin has had a really bad cold and sore throat for a week. Today Lou had to go to the emergency doctors, Josie has croup and Ollie and Oscar have chest infections. We tried to ring them in the evening but I guess those left standing were playing nurse!

Mal cooked a roast and then we watched the Spurs v Stoke game. Someone should have shot the ref. Very poor decisions against Spurs.
