In the morning we went into Clacton and did a bit of shopping. When I went into shops Mal sat on the seats outside with Ellie. Every time I came out, Ellie had a crowd of people around her saying how adorable she was. I don’t think they have seen Golden Retrievers in Clacton before! I am guessing as Clacton is a fairly depressed area, they can’t afford to keep big dogs with the feed and vets bills. The sales were on in the shops so we bought a few items of clothing and a charger for my camera as I had left mine at home.

Then from one extreme to the other, we went to Frinton . My mum and dad lived down here when they retired , my dad sadly only had 6 weeks of his retirement and after he died I used to bring Torin and Rhys down here and we would have fun on Frinton beach where my mum’s friend had a beach hut.  Mum only stayed for another 6 months and then moved in with me until she sorted a house out very close to me. So, I know the area quite well, Mal doesn’t but he fell in love with Frinton! We had a walk along the sea front. Ellie had a swim.

We  had our lunch along the high street at a dog friendly cafe, Fifi’s.

The next place we went was Walton on the Naze, where my sister and I were often taken as kids. Dogs are allowed on the beach, so another swim for Ellie!

It was so nice and sunny we sat just above the beach and had an ice cream. Ellie only shares my ice cream on holiday!

As we sat there about 50 kids and their teachers (we presume) ran on to the empty beach and then ran straight into the sea fully clothed. It was lovely watching them having so much fun. It reminded me of days taking Torin and Rhys when they were young and them running fully clothed into the sea, totally care free. How life changes us all but it was good to watch these kids having so much fun.

When we did eventually get back to the caravan dinner was ready in the slow cooker!
