We walked Ellie and then took her over to our dog sitters Jaye and Lea. They have looked after Ellie before and we have looked after Barney, their goldie. They get on so well together. Of course we left instructions, nothing around that is hard for her to chew and we took over her mashed up food.

We then caught the train to Victoria. We found a nice restaurant for a snack and then caught the bus to our  Earls Court Hotel , which was a very short walk from the Lost Estate, where we were going to see The Great Christmas Feast in the evening. We heard how good it was but it really was totally amazing. It’s an inclusive show with a three course meal, one course following each act. Alex Phelps was amazing, he played every character and so well.  It really is something everyone should see at least once. We were so impressed. A good start to Christmas!

We walked back to the hotel. Stupidly I wore heeled shoes for the first time in a long while, at least for walking! My feet ached!

A sunny walk with Ellie and we went as far as Gazen Salts, so quite a bit of exercise for her.

A day at home catching up with things.

Another picture of Milly, Sol with Luna, our great granddaughter.

Oh dear, Hammers got slaughtered by Liverpool! 5-1

Tuesday 19th December 2023

A  very rainy day but we didn’t get too wet on the walk and then it got heavier.

We had Ellie’s follow up appointment at the vets and they were very pleased with the healing but she has to stay on her mushed up food all over Christmas and her next appointment will be on 27th. I think she was very relieved we didn’t leave her there today.

In the afternoon I had another dental appointment to check the plate fitting, it had been rubbing into my tongue so she filed some more off.  I made an appointment for another tooth out in  February, but I will be discussing that with maxillofacial first!! May be cancelling this appointment.

Ellie did a lot of lip smacking, we are thinking this is irritation with the healing.

Good to see that Mary Earps won the Sportsperson of the year.

Another day at Cancer Research Charity shop, busy again but I don’t think we sold quite so many Christmas cards!

Pam met me at lunchtime and we went to the cafe next door and had lunch together. It was nice to meet up with her  before Christmas.

Sunday 17th December 2023

Ellie had a much better night and appeared to  be sleeping a lot more. We didn’t want to walk her too far, so just a very short walk to the field BUT she had a quick run!! Only a couple of minutes but my goodness were we pleased to see that!! Of course her mouth is annoying her and she keeps rubbing it but still early days.

An email from Sainsburys they will  deliver between 5 and 6 in the evening…excellent! All for 50p! And yes they arrived at 5pm.  Good service.

We watched Hammers, a good game, they won!

Saturday 16th December 2023

Poor Ellie had a very restless night with a lot of lip smacking, which meant I didn’t get much sleep either, stroking her trying to get her back to sleep. her pain killers are taken with her breakfast and then just a short walk over the field. I then have to thoroughly clean her paws, so she doesn’t lick them and start an infection in her mouth!

I discovered that Sainsburys have 50 p delivery slots available, so what better thing to do than put in an order for the heavy difficult to carry things. A four hour slot for tomorrow! I guess everyone else has booked the week before Christmas and they have spare slots all this weekend!

I watched Luton Town in the afternoon, it was 1 -1 and then something awful happened, Tom Lockyer, the Luton town captain collapsed on the pitch. Poor man, he collapsed at the Championship play off as well but after an operation he was declared fit. I do hope he is OK. Play was suspended and then after about 10 minutes they abandoned the match.

Later I watched Soul Survivor and Peg leg was tactically voted out. He really should have won. Disappointing after how many hours I’ve watched it?!

I then decided if Ellie didn’t win Strictly then I wouldn’t be watching it again but thankfully she did!
