Mal walked Ellie while I drove to Westwood early. I don’t go there very often now because of the house building/roadworks. I hate sitting in queues of traffic. I had to collect something from Dunelm and a quick supermarket dash.  I have to say I was impressed in Tesco. A while back I bought some small sistema storage boxes only to find that one wouldn’t shut properly. I took the packing and the boxes back to Tesco and of course I hadn’t kept my receipt from a couple of weeks ago.  The guy was so nice said it was no problem, looked on my Tesco club card and found the purchase and refunded the money. Then I was looking for a stapler, couldn’t find them, I asked a young male assistant, he looked it up on his phone and found it for me, all with a smile on his face. I was very impressed, they must have good staff training…….they don’t seem to many other places. What a difference it makes when people are pleasant to you. I also bought some euros for our next Madeira trip and also found some nice trousers for Mal for the holiday.

As winter is heading our way I  bought a new snuggly blanket for Ellie for the sofa. Quite a successful shop seeing as I wasn’t out too long.

We watched the Spurs game. I have to say new manager and minus Kane and it really looks a different team. 5-2!

It was a lovely evening so we ate our dinner out in the garden.

Friday 1st September 2023

Lou and Rhys brought my car back. It was booked into the garage they use, yesterday. My windscreen washer motor had broken and needed replacing and also a couple of advisories , non urgent from the MOT, they attended to those as well. They also did the tracking (and didn’t charge for that!) Excellent garage, they look after all the local taxis. We were thinking of upgrading the car but then wondered why if it keeps going and costs so little for repairs.

Lou and Rhys didn’t stop as didn’t want to catch anything we may have! We now hear of a lot of people getting Covid as well, who knows what we have had but still feel very tired.

Mal did manage a trip to the allotment to pick the abundance of fruit and vegetables down there, of course we haven’t been eating many of them. He is going to a huge pick over the weekend for Sandwich Pantry.

In the evening we watched the Hatters  (Luton town) v Hammers game . Of course I still have an allegiance with the Hatters as Rhys and I used to go and support them in the ’80’s. They lost but of course Mal was pleased Hammers had the win. (2-1)
