Friday 23rd June 2023

I was up early avoiding the heat and out walking with Ellie. What a cheeky little baby squirrel, who didn’t want to move as we came along the footpath.

It is just so peaceful and lovely early morning………..

I then spent the next two hours sorting things out for our new Red Hatter group, some obviously to pass on to our new Queen who is unsure exactly what is required. Mal was busy at the allotment. We seem to be having a race who has the best/earliest tomatoes and courgettes! I am at an advantage as mine are in pots and his obviously are in the ground and are being munched!

On top of all that we then had councillors, the community warden and a special cop all standing looking at the state of the road.

As Mal was still not home, I grabbed Bob next door and we went and asked what was going to be done! A load of “we may” and we know nothing will be done. A councillor then came putting leaflets through our letter boxes. He is not a nice man and went on to slander Mal in front of Bob. Something Mal would never have done in a million years.  So, I phoned Mal at the allotment  and he came straight back to face him. The police were still there so Mal said it in front of them “I have come to talk to you about you slandering me.”  He immediately said they were in a meeting and when everyone stopped, he grabbed his phone and walked off and didn’t come back while Mal was still there talking to the others. What a total idiot the man is. He really shouldn’t attack people if he can’t face up to his lies, especially in front of coppers. There really are some odd people around nowadays, has Covid done this?

Mal and I then decided to go out for lunch.

Quite a hectic day or two.

BUT in the evening this appeared…….

Yeah! They listened to us at last! We now have CCTV.

Thursday 22nd June 2023

We were woken up in the early hours, or I should say I was woken up by Ellie scratching at the side of the bed to tell me something was wrong. I guessed it was because of Barney, but not at all. Instead lights were flashing and when I looked outside two fire engines!!

Ellie could probably smell the burning. This time a car and a Salvatori lorry set alight. Mal went out and was talking to all the neighbours. It really is time the Police sorted all this out. Other cars were damaged by the flames.

We had Barney the retriever staying overnight and he was as good as gold. Ellie and Barney had a good chase around the cricket pitch.

I complained about the fire to the local councilors and they told me who to contact as we no longer have a PCSO. Later a special constable  was knocking on all our doors to ask if we heard anything before the fires!! I did have a bit of a go at her as this is the third time cars have been set alight. I should say one mans cars have been set alight, a fact they are well aware of! Her reply was “we are only the foot soldiers” yes and we are only “potential victims”.

Mal has talked to some of the neighbours and is compiling correspondence to the Chief Constable.

Wednesday 21st June 2023

Easyjet have altered all the flight times for one of our booked holidays, so Mal spent 45 minutes on to them, changing it. It seems, or so they say Easyjet Holidays and Easyjet don ‘t actually work together!

Meanwhile I took Ellie over the fields before it became too hot.

As we came off the field, Ellie just sat down and wouldn’t walk. She lifted her front paw up to me and it was totally clogged with mud and stones. It was a good thing I had some tissues with me as I had to clean as much as I could get off her four paws. Not a good idea to go over the fields after all the rain!

Later of course we heard from  Paula who is coming on that Easyjet holiday with us and so Mal sorted all hers out as well!

We had our Red Hatters lunch and told the girls about the new group to see if they all wanted to go ahead and join with us as ‘Ruby Rebels’. We will see.

We also have Barney staying with us for the night. He is a lovely goldie and is so well behaved!

Tuesday 20th June 2023

We went to Minnis Bay early, we thought to avoid the heat. As we were  down there the thunder and lightning started. We managed a lovely walk just before the heavens opened and it was torrential rain.

Lunchtime I went to the Lamp cafe at Betteshanger Park and met up with Debbie, Pam and Pat. Debbie has now agreed to be the new Queen with our support as her committee for a NEW Red Hatters group. We will now sort out who wants to keep with us as a new group. We will start anew, I think as the Ruby Rebels.

We had a nice lunch as well.

I was back in time to watch the tennis and Alcaraz win…yes! I wasn’t sad that Andy Murray is out.

This is how Ellie keeps cool!

Monday 19th June 2023

My volunteer day at Cancer Research. Jack was away on his “stag do” and the stand in manager didn’t even make me one cup of tea! I obviously have Jack well trained.

It was really hot and humid in the shop, not a pleasant day to work. Jem and Dom popped over when I got home to collect Jem’s bag she left behind yesterday.

Sunday 18th June 2023

It rained  and stormed over night so I woke up to find my roses battered!

Father’s Day – Mal opened his presents and cards and then we took Ellie to Kearsney Abbey. She loves it there, jumping in the stream and then rolling in the mud! She even found some friends to play with.

A quick change and then we met Jem, Dom, Tris and Violet and we all went for lunch at the Fleur de Lis.

After that Tris and Violet went off and Jem and Dom came back to ours. There was a bit of a Father and son whiskey tasting.

Jem was a little the worse for wear when they left!

Saturday 17th June 2023

Ellie and I were out early again, avoiding the heat. We went for a long walk along the river.

Parts of the river are a disgusting green!

Mal had his first art class at Swan Art. I am hoping that he enjoys it as it was part of his birthday present. This week is landscapes and next week birds.

I dropped him off and then took Ellie for her weigh in at the vets. She has lost  another .2kg, we are not intending to have her lose any more weight, just to keep it as it is. Maybe a couple more treats!

Back home and it started raining!! We have been waiting for this, I won’t have to water the garden tonight.

I collected Mal when the class finished and he said the tutor was excellent. He is really looking forward to next week.

It rained and rained in the night and a thunderstorm, when Ellie woke me up quite stressed.

Thought for the Day – “Let’s stop telling each other how busy we are.”
