We had Chester to stay for the day.  He enjoyed his walk. You can see by Ellie’s ears how windy it was!

The workers were driving me mad with their noise, cutting concrete. They also leave a lot of mess in the conservatory after having their coffee in there.

The  builders were here again in between the showers.  We are beginning to get a little fed up with them being here, making coffee, cleaning up where they have unintentionally walked mud etc in.  It’s not their fault, the weather has to be to blame.

In the evening we watched the England game , we won and Kane scored.

We walked Ellie , on the way putting some daffodils from the allotment on to Torin’s grave. The small daffodils I planted a couple of years ago are in bloom as well. Spring must be here!

Later Mal went with a couple of others to interview people who want to stand as councillors for Sandwich Matters.

The workmen arrived and delivered some sand  and told us they would not be working today as Andy, the boss man and expert brick layer is off sick and so they won’t be here until Thursday!

I  had a meal voucher that Tris had given me for  Angela’s in Margate and so we  booked to have lunch there. It isn’t possible when the workmen are here as obviously Ellie would see them through the patio doors and get stressed at people in her garden.

Half an hour later they came back!! Andy didn’t look well but started work on the steps.  We were in a bit of a dilemma as didn’t want to leave Ellie.  Angela’s don’t answer their phone when they are open, so we took a chance and took Ellie with us. It was also busy in the restaurant. When you book you have to give your credit card details in case of “no shows”.  Mal convinced them they wouldn’t know Ellie was even there and so they let us stay!

The food there is usually excellent, fresh fish BUT it is a typical DFL (Dahn from London) place . As Mal said the room we were in looked like a badly converted WC!  They seem to like small scruffy places with expensive food. This picture was taken when everyone had left!

Ellie was as good as gold and lay under the table as she always does. In fact some people were surprised we had a dog with us when we left.

The only vegetable choices were roast potatoes and cabbage. We had both but the roast potatoes were rock hard, so Mal told the waiter and they brought us some more freshly cooked. The people at the next table hearing us demanded theirs were taken off the bill!

At least we enjoyed most of the meal.

Sunday 19th March 2023

Mal cooked breakfast for me and I had a lovely present and card from him (and Ellie) for Mother’s Day.

We then took Ellie down to St Mildred’s Bay for the goldie meet up. Wow, did Ellie do some running?! But it was the high Spring tide so we all left a bit earlier than usual before we got washed away in the tide!

Then Rhys cooked a Mother’s Day lunch for us all that was very nice.

Saturday 18th March 2023

I went to Westwood to collect some things I ordered from M&S. I think anything in the future I may be getting delivered. I went early but I still didn’t avoid the traffic jams. They are building so many houses up there and obviously laying drains across the road into Westwood and so there are temporary traffic lights and the traffic queues were horrendous. I may be sticking to Deal in future, sadly they closed the M&S there.
