We went over the fields fairly early as it was supposed to rain. It didn’t!

We have so many piccolo tomatoes, so I made tomato soup which was delicious. We are just about keeping up making chutney and soups.  I can’t remember the last time I bought fruit and vegetables, we have a real glut of apples at the moment and just coming to the end of the raspberries.

Two more people came to look at the garden and give us  another estimate. I told them I would like a detailed breakdown.

Then Ellie arrived, a lovely choc lab we are looking after for the weekend. She came in, emptied out Ellie’s toy box and then went to lay on Ellie’s bed! I think she has made herself at home!

She is a very happy, contented dog.

In the evening we watched the England game….oh dear!

Thursday 22nd September 2022

Mal walked Ellie and I went into Deal. It does annoy me when I am shopping and I get overcharged and today it was in Sainsburys. This time they said it was “human error”. I guess it makes a change from computer error. I do wonder how many people never check their receipts and get conned. I had already taken the shopping back to the car and she asked to see it in spite of having the receipt to match with the shelf price. I told her I had sciatica and she could go and get it out of the car herself and held the keys out to her. She said it was fine, she would give me a refund! I hear this time and again that no one seems to care any more.

We are still waiting for our third garden quote. One that Rhys suggested called us and asked for £50 to come and give us a quote…..funny! To be honest this is starting memories of Cyprus and the stress we went through there with builders/quotes.

We decided we haven’t been out for a while and couldn’t be bothered to cook so we walked with Ellie to the George and Dragon. It was still warm and so we sat in the garden. They frequently have offers for lunchtime but hadn’t realised their menu was such good value in the evenings and it is always really good food.

I just love their haddock, fennel and corn chowder and with my mouth pain, a good thing to eat! It was all delicious.

Tuesday 20th September 2022

More problems with my mouth. I am beginning to wish I never had the treatment at Maxillofacial, even more so now Anna has left.

We took Ellie to Kearsney so she could have a paddle.

We are still waiting for our third garden quote.  The second was one line! They won’t be getting the job.

Sunday 18th September 2022

We took Ellie for her meeting with the other golden retrievers at St Mildred’s Beach. It was freezing, the wind coming off the sea was quite shocking. So, I think quite a lot went home early. We met Tris and Violet and we all went for a hot chocolate at the beach cafe. Ellie enjoyed it anyway.

In the afternoon a disappointing game from Hammers.

Saturday 17th September 2022

Mal took Ellie while I went shopping for a birthday present and a couple of Christmas presents. Early I know but I have a lot to sort out.

When it was River’s wedding, we had no one to look after Ellie (Rhys usually does). There was no way I wanted her to go into kennels and Mal discovered “Rover.com” and Ellie had a very successful stay with a couple local to the wedding. I thought then what a good idea it was as it really is home from home looking after dogs. I mentioned it to Lou and Rhys and they decided they would do it. They have their first visitor this weekend.  We are doing it as well and I had the first “meet and greet” for Millie an adorable cocker spaniel who will be staying in October. How lovely, get paid for playing with dogs! We thought it would be a good idea to earmark any money made in case Ellie needs anything doing that is not covered by her insurance.

Later we watched the Spurs game , well done Son…for all you doubters…a hat trick in 13 minutes!
