I met up with our new local councillor Melissa, to find some things out about local issues. She is a lovely lady who cares passionately about south Sandwich.

We had a very long chat and she is working hard to improve things.

Mal was up earlier than usual and opened all his presents and cards. A pity he is going to work as it is his birthday. I dropped him off and then took Ellie to the park. It was a nightmare, so many dogs and Ellie scrounging off everyone she saw, she must be hungry, so she had to go on the lead.  Doesn’t the vet know Goldies are food led and also she was a street dog?! I will persevere for the 3 months but she is not happy.

Lunchtime I met up with Hatters at the Racing Greyhound.

We had a very red sky, evidently Sahara dust and my car was covered too.

In the evening Lou and Rhys invited us over for fish and chips. Mal said that was the perfect end to his birthday, he really didn’t want to be going out anywhere else on his birthday after working all day!

We took Ellie with us I don’t think Marlene was too impressed with her!

River’s birthday today, I can’t believe he is 25.

A nice sunny day and so Ellie and I went to the park. We can’t go to the beach as all the local ones have oil on them and no one knows where from!

I had a cleaning day and washing curtains.

Having rested Ellie the previous day we decided to take her to Kearsney Abbey as she likes to go in the stream there. Her limpy leg is much improved.

We had coffee at the Cafe and chatted to  a lady with her terrier. It would be so easy to stay all day, so many people stop to talk and two more people who tried to give Ellie treats and we had to say no! She has such an appealing face.

Back home and I took some flowers round for Torin. All the tiny daffodils I planted have grown and the rose bushes are starting, it must be Spring.

Oh and it is SNOWING in ‘sunny’ North Cyprus!!  Margaretha says it is very cold.

A very good Hammers game.

I watched the rest of Crufts and so pleased the Flat coated retriever won best in show! As for reserve “Waffle”, the least said about that the better.

Shopping in the morning. Spurs v Man U in the afternoon. At least this game both teams made an effort , sadly Spurs lost.

I was also catching up with Crufts. It brought back memories of going with my mum and sister, many years ago. Mum won a competition, a years dog food, tickets for Crufts, stay in a hotel with dinner with  some of the judges. It was a great weekend but mum was getting on in years and struggled with all the walking around, so we took it in turns sitting with her and the other looked around. Of course tickets for the final judging are like gold dust but just before it mum said she felt exhausted and wanted to go home. Of course it was her prize and so we brought her home and missed the final!! We often have a giggle about that.

I did go other years when Mal was Principal Examiner and attended meetings in Birmingham, so while he was working I went off to Crufts.

Lou and Rhys were taking Marlene to Minnis Bay so I met them down there. Ellie was still limping slightly and so Lou and I had coffee while Rhys took Marlene for a walk. Poor Ellie wanted to go with them. Nice to see them all.

After dropping Mal off, I took Ellie to the park, only a very short walk as she was limping a bit from yesterday. She then met some dogs and wanted to run round with them so I had to put her lead on and bring her home! A shame, what a lovely day.

It was good to have the doors and windows open, so I did a bit of painting.
