It is quite easy not to realise what is surrounding where you live, so today for the first time we went to East Kent Railway for a train ride! It was built for the miners at the Kent Colliery and has been restored by enthusiasts. Saturdays and Sundays you can have a ride from Shepherdswell to Eythorne. Of course we took Ellie with us. She has been on boats and a plane but never on a train. She wasn’t very impressed to start with and shook but then settled and she certainly liked the walk around The Knees Woodland which is adjacent. We also had coffee in the Colonel’s cafe and one of the staff fell in love with her and said we could take her on his miniature railway as well but we declined. I think she had enough!
We had a first class carriage!
