Friday 5th November 2021

The three of us walked Ellie over the fields and then Marion came back and packed. I drove her to the station for the train home and then did my food shop on the way back.

Rhys had to work and Lou needed some peace and quiet to do an assignment for Uni, so I went to collect Ollie, Oscar and Josie in the afternoon. We had tea first.

We then drove over to Broadstairs for their firework display. We arrived just before 6pm when we thought it started and were amazed that we found it so easy to park. As we walked towards the beach we realised why….it didn’t start until 8pm. They had a group playing in the bandstand.

We bought some drinks and waited and yes it was cold!

It was well worth the wait.

We all thoroughly enjoyed it, even if we were a little cold!

Thursday 4th November 2021

Ollie’s 15th birthday.

We all went with Ellie for a long walk in King Edward park, having a coffee as we walked round.

Ollie decided he wanted to have his birthday meal at Raise, the Chinese in Sheerness and we were invited. It was Sheerness because that is where Rhys goes for his school run every day and so he would already be there. It was a long drive and so much traffic. It took us nearly two hours. Maddie and River came too. We had a lovely meal and birthday cake and then of course I had the drive back, thankfully much quicker than going!

Wednesday 3rd November 2021

I think we exhausted Ellie the previous day, so we walked her across the fields and then went to Birchington, leaving her behind. There are some nice shops there which we had a wander around and then I drove on to Cliftonville to the Walpole Bay Hotel which I thought Marion may enjoy.

We had a really good cup of coffee each and then went to look round the museum. This is no ordinary museum, a sort of a living museum. You go up in the old lift to the third floor.

Then just work your way down to view so many old things! They also have a Napery Gallery. It is really fascinating but Marion and I both kept saying, “don’t you remember Nanny had one of those”, showing how old we are!

After all that we went for a wander around the “hipster” part of Margate. In King Street we came across a very interesting building where they give art classes and also sell crafts. We went in to talk to the artist as Mal is looking for art classes and can’t find exactly what he wants. This guy sounds ideal and does the classes to raise money for kids with learning difficulties. So, I was really pleased I stumbled upon this. I took all his details for Mal.

Mal came back in the afternoon. He seemed pleased about the art classes and will pursue it next week.

We had a quiet evening.

Tuesday 2nd November 2021

Considering it is November, the sun was out and it was a lovely day, so we went to Deal and walked with Ellie from Deal to Walmer Castle. It was really warm and we wondered why we had put coats on.

We decided to have lunch back in Sandwich at The George and Dragon and sat out in the garden to have it, we had Ellie with us and she was spoilt with dog treats.

Monday 1st November 2021

Early morning walks are easier now the clocks have changed , so Ellie and I were out early across the fields.

My sister Marion arrived in the afternoon so I collected her from Ramsgate station. We then had a lot to talk about as we hadn’t seen each other for over 2 years!

Thought for the Day – “Some of the most generous people have no money. Some of the wisest people have no education. Some of the kindest people were hurt the most.”

Sunday 31st October 2021

Ellie and I just made it across the fields without getting soaked!

Mal went out for lunch with Steve and his family today. Just me and Ellie at home. She is very relaxed about it!

I watched a very good Hammers game, a shame they don’t watch the football at Steve’s, Mal missed a good game.

Thought for the Day – “Do not judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat.”

Saturday 30th October 2021

Ellie and I were out early before the real downpours were forecast. We would have made it Ok if the barrier hadn’t come down at the level crossing! I dried Ellie off with the hairdryer.

I then went shopping as my sister will be coming to stay.

Ellie is getting a bit clingy, I think she misses Mal.

I watched the Spurs v Man U match. Well, Man U played much better than of late. Spurs were awful and I think they should have let Kane leave! We lost!
