My second appointment for Maxillofacial. Dr Anna asked me if I was sure I could cope with more! She also asked how I had been and I told her the quarter of my mouth she had treated, the teeth have been very sensitive and she told me that will last for 6-8 weeks. She also told me my regime should be interdental brushes and then clean my teeth, leaving the toothpaste on for half an hour and NEVER rinse. I questioned this as I always rinse and she repeated it asking what good was toothpaste if you rinse it away? Well, who knew I have been incorrectly cleaning my teeth for 70 years!

Today’s treatment was not good. I won’t go into details, just to say I now understand why a lot of people pull out of the treatment! Suffice to say I came out shaking and sat in the car and cried. Mal had taken Ellie to the park in Dover while I was in there, so we sat for a while.

Pain killers and I went to bed when I got home.

I felt more human in the afternoon. I will consider all this before next visit but think I have to think in the long term.

I compiled a Sainsbury’s online shop in the evening, in case I didn’t feel up to shopping, delivered tomorrow with a “saver slot” for £1.

Wednesday 17th November 2021

We watched Sophie Ellis Bexter raising money for Children in Need with her kitchen disco. I am amazed she was able to go on for 24 hours, you start watching these things and then have to donate after all the effort she put in. She raised over £1 million.

We then took Ellie out for her walk to King George park. It really was like a Spring day.

In the afternoon we went to the allotment. I have a Blue Moon rose to be moved from the garden and also two roses I planted at the allotment when I first had it. We have now re organised it, so Mal dug three holes in my flower section, moved the two there and tomorrow we’ll dig the Blue Moon out of the garden. Carrots for dinner!

Tuesday 16th November 2021

A nice walk kicking all the leaves. There are a lot of fungi around.

I was waiting to book my booster jab until I had finished my Maxillofacial treatment, just in case I had any reaction. Today I thought I would have a look to see if I could tie it up with my last Maxillo as they do it at the same clinic. No I can’t, they have no appointments, nor does the pharmacy in Deal where I had the first two nor Sandwich Health centre. I thought I would look to see where walk in places are. The nearest one Southend which is 100 miles away. The only option open to me is Saga, mid December, so I had to take it.

Things aren’t looking to good in Sandwich. Three councillors walked out of a meeting and resigned last week and now they have spread this notice around

That’s not good and Mal was supposed to be having an allotment committee meeting in the afternoon.

He went off to his art classes in the morning, I cleared leaves up, and look who I found!

Monday 15th November 2021

I went to Westwood to pick up a click and collect Christmas present and bought a couple more Christmas things. I saw Rhys at the big roundabout obviously just dropped his school run boy off. We waved to each other!

I also went to Sainsburys, a huge Sainsburys but there were no small trollies there. As I lugged my shopping around in a carry basket which was heavy, on the way out, I asked one of the staff if they could bring some small trollies indoors.  “He’s out there collecting them” was the reply and then she turned her back on me.  Customer service has certainly disappeared. Well, funny how I couldn’t see anyone in the car park collecting them!

Sunday 14th November 2021

It was like a spring day when we walked Ellie.

Mal then went to the allotment to get the vegetables for our roast. The parsnips are huge and some nice fat juicy carrots.

Mal did most of the preparation and cooking for our Sunday roast, I could eat most of it, after having soup up until then because of my teeth!

Saturday 13th November 2021

I went into Deal as I had to get some shopping. The market was on but I only managed to get the basics and came back home. I bought some nice flowers for Torin’s grave. As I seem to get a lot of ulcers Doc Anna suggested I change my toothpaste and take vitamin B12, so I bought some.

I also took my watch into Timpsons as the battery had run out. I bought a lifetime battery replacement certificate in 2016. Well worth the money as he said for my Rotary watch the batteries had now gone up to £11! Is it only us oldies who still wear watches?

In the afternoon I took the flowers round to the cemetery.

Thought for the Day – “Do it now, sometimes later becomes never.”
