A trip to the butchers on the way to the beach. They have some Turkey breast roasts in and in spite of the labels on them, I told him they will be long gone before Christmas! I also bought some of their delicious home made pork, leek and herb sausages (£3 for £4.50). Believe me the meat I buy from here tastes nothing like supermarket meat, far superior.

It was raining when we left home but we always take a chance and sure enough, didn’t get wet at the beach but had the beach to ourselves!

Later we went into Canterbury. It’ a long time since we have been there  and I think the police presence in the High Street reminded us why! There had obviously been some sort of “incident”.

We had lunch at Chom Chom. A long time since we have been there too! Their Thai green curry still as good as ever and they have refitted all the restaurant.

We were out early again with Ellie and today went to King George VI park. Ellie loves seeing all the other dogs there. Of course we buy a take away coffee from Alison’s Kiosk and walk round with it.

Next, down to the allotment. It was hedge cutting time, so I held the ladder and here is one of the many sunflowers I planted in Mal’s allotment.

Rain in the evening, a good thing or we would be watering the allotment.

We started watching Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm. It’s quite entertaining!

It seemed as though it was going to be hot so we had an early morning drive to Walmer and walked Ellie along the seafront.

Ellie had a good walk and so we left her at home and headed for the allotment, loads to do. I managed to weed and chip three of my flower beds. It looks as though it will be time to get the netting off all the blackcurrants at the weekend and pick them. I know the farm in Wingham who send all theirs to Ribena, have just harvested theirs.

We left the allotment when we were too hot to carry on!

Ellie and I were out at 6am again. It really is the best part of the day. It’s funny, so many people seem to have their routines, so you meet different dog walkers according to what time of the day you go. Early is good because there are very few “treat givers” and Ellie knows all of them! The fewer the better.

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon and then in the evening we ate out at a restaurant in Canterbury. I had oven roasted sea bass and very good it was too.

It was a nice evening for a drive through the country.

Ellie and I went out early and we walked down to the Quay, a little further than we have been going but we’ll see how her legs are for the rest of the day. We think the Yumove has improved them.

I went shopping to Westwood. I swear many people have “Covid brain” (gone a bit nutty – if I explain that, I think we have all been locked down for too long)! A man started shouting at me in the supermarket. I left my trolley in the checkout queue and just moved to the cashier to tell her there was broken glass all over the floor in one of the aisles, then moved back to my trolley. He said “don’t you ever queue woman?” I tried to explain I had been in front of him and that was my trolley and I was telling the cashier about dangerous glass. He wouldn’t listen just kept shouting. I just told him if he was that offended I would move to another queue. It was either that or I think I may have punched him! He then started having a go at someone else!

Back home and Ellie seemed very energetic which was a surprise. In the evening we went for a drink and sat in the pub garden with Ellie. It was so nice, we ended up having our dinner there.

Lou, Ollie, Oscar and Josie came round for a Sunday roast. A lot of indecision whether we would eat outside or in the conservatory, right up until the last minute. Mal cleaned all the outside table and then it rained! So, indoors! At least we all enjoyed the roast with all our home grown vegetables. I made a lemon cheesecake and sent the rest home for Rhys along with a dinner.

I ordered 5 kilo of chicken breast from the butchers in Birchington, his is the best and only £20, so we collected that. From there we took Ellie to Westgate for a run on the beach. Dog heaven!

When Ellie had run and played enough we walked up to the cafe for a coffee. There are always people to chat to and we end up staying far longer than we planned.

In the evening I watched Chris Packham’s ‘The Walk that Made Me.’ A good watch, brave man.
