Another beautiful day and so we took Ellie for a walk in the park early to avoid the heat. Alison’s cafe was open so we had our coffee!

Ellie was getting very stressed in the afternoon’s heat and humidity, going upstairs, coming down again, out in the garden, back again. She has never liked the heat. Finally I made her comfortable in front of the cooler and she just sleeps! I was going to put the air con on but she was happy with the cold air on her face.

More watering at the allotment.

Another lovely day and so I had to walk Ellie early.

Then I was off to QEQM hospital to the glaucoma clinic. I spent the whole morning there, tests, more tests and even more tests and then to see the consultant. He showed me all the readings and pictures on the computer screen. Slight problem but he seemed happy for now. Any problems they will see me immediately or they will send for me in 6 months. I have missed all the confusion prior to this, ie 2 different technicians/nurses saying that I hadn’t been here before, yes I have April and about 2 weeks ago!  Such confusion and one of the technicians missed a test and I had to go back and take it.  BUT they all had computers and all the information must have been on there. I just appreciate that I am getting NHS appointments when a lot of people are not.

I forgot to mention, on entering QEQM hospital, I was told I had to remove my mask and use a blue hospital one as this was a new rule! This now applies to everyone. I was quite shocked, I thought the NHS had no money. Worse than this, walking out of the gates, so many strewn all along the road.

In the evening we watched the football, the England game.

Going to be a hot day and so I was up early with Ellie. It was quite misty for a lot of the walk.

We met up with the greyhound man and he has another rescued greyhound replacing his one that died. I am so pleased he found the strength to rescue another dog. This one is Willow.

In the afternoon I had my appointment at the dentist. I arrived, he called me in and  he looked at me and asked “why are you having teeth out?” I told him to look on my records and he would find a 3 page misif from Dr Anna, so he went to the computer and read it. “Oh yes, it says to be taken out urgently”. I said yes but you were on holiday! Then he said temporary replacements would take 2 weeks (my other one took ONE week!) and would I rather he took impressions today and then did the extractions in 2 weeks time. Well, yes, I don’t really want to walk around with 2 more front teeth missing, so today he just took impressions!

He told me to make an appointment with reception for 2 weeks time, so I went out and told the girl and she said he is booked solid and the only appointment she can give me is  on Wednesday 13th October. I argued with her and said that is 5 weeks not 2 and she said take it or leave it, that is all he has. So, I had to say yes. No choice.  She is a little like a doctors receptionist, no arguing.  Just as well all the maxillofacial appointments have all been moved forward as those teeth have to be gone before the first one. The NHS is certainly struggling.

I went to Westwood, something to keep my mind off the dentist tomorrow, I spent quite a while in TKMaxx. One Christmas present bought, also a top for me!

Meanwhile back at home, we are now told our boiler will be repaired, not replaced. BUT they are having a problem getting one of the parts.  For-seeing this, Mal had looked up the parts and told them he could order them, why couldn’t they? Many phone calls later, oh yes they have found them. Oh dear is there anyone you can trust?

Next was a letter from Maxillofacial , they have delayed all four of my appointments AGAIN!! It will be coming up to 4 years waiting the way things are going.  “The dates have been changed due to staffing.” I fear the NHS are falling apart.

In the evening we went to the pub in Minster for pie and pudding. It was really nice sitting in the garden. Ellie had a piece of pie too and a good wander around the garden!

We took Ellie to The Knees woodland as she loves it there. Today we discovered why when she chased off after pheasants!

We stopped at the cafe for a coffee after the walk.

Mal watered the two allotments in the afternoon.

We watched the England game. Lingard is wasted at Man U and even more so on Ronaldo’s return!

So, we had Sunday roast on Saturday! I cooked one of the butchers delicious turkey breast joints. I did tell him when I bought two that they would be long gone before Christmas!

It was also nice to be able to sit outside to eat it. Rhys was working so I sent a meal home for him.

Our neighbour Bob called round in the evening to ask if we have mice, not to our knowledge but they have and they are eating their dog food! Ellie was barking the other day in the garden but when we went out, it was a frog not a mouse!

In the evening we watched Soccer Aid and of course donated as I hope everyone who was watching it did!
