Month: April 2021

A short walk for Ellie and then we headed for the park in Ramsgate to meet Tris and Violet. We sat at Alison’s Sea View Cafe and had our lunch. Very nice it was too in the sun but still quite a breeze coming off the sea. It’s good they have now put out the tables and chairs. Ellie had a good run around.

This has become a regular go to place now I can’t walk so far and it’s nice to give Alison some trade.

In the evening we watched the Spurs game, not impressed!

It is market day in Sandwich, so I had the longest walk I have had for a while, by the river and then into town.  Mal did look at all the barbers, to get his hair cut, at last, but so many queues and so he decided another day! I had also contacted my hairdresser and three weeks wait!

Ellie is such a scrounger, she knows everyone in Sandwich who gives her treats, so she just goes and sits in front of them! I also popped in the charity shops and bought Ellie some new teddys. She has run out over lockdown.

Mal cleaned out the shed in the afternoon. Plenty to take to the allotment.

We had the kids at the allotment with us and they really did a lot of work, including more burning, digging and also laying loads of wood chips. In fact they used up all the wood chips!! Tree surgeons deliver them for use by any of the allotment owners, you just help yourself.

They were all hungry so back for lunch in the garden!

Unexpectedly there was a frost overnight but by the time I went out, my car had thawed.

Mal took Ellie and I went to do a bit of shopping. It was nice to go to TKMaxx, so I managed to get 2 birthday presents. There weren’t even any queues.

Mal spent all afternoon at the allotment and I did some sorting in the garden.

In spite of the cold last night, the strawberries have flowers!

Rhys has booked his vaccination, he couldn’t wait to get it.

Thought for the Day – “Someday everything will make perfect sense.  So, for no, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.”

Lou came over with Ollie, Oscar and Josie. They have been waiting to go to the allotment and start work on their new patches in Grandad’s allotment. He had a lot of old wood to burn. They do like a good fire!

They also have a huge patch each and are planting the “three sisters”, growing sweetcorn, beans and squash together.

I came back early and cooked a roast which they all seemed to enjoy and of course followed by rhubarb crumble. Rhubarb from the allotment and I put some grated ginger in with it which makes it really tasty.  We had our lunch out in the garden in the sun. It was Rhys’s first day back at work for over a year but I sent a dinner home for him.

A walk for Ellie. Mal watered some of the allotment and then an afternoon of football.  A very tense ending to the Hammers game and Spurs lost.

I decided to try a little longer walk, with Mal and Ellie. We walked by the river and then Mal went off to get the paper and Ellie and I sat and waited for him. I really miss walking but it is not easy. Bit by bit.

I ached in the afternoon!

It certainly paid off resting and watching Cheltenham last week. I backed Rachael Blackmore for the Grand National  and she won!
