Another early walk for Ellie and surprisingly a lot of other people were out this morning with their dogs.

Later we had to go to Deal and so decided to go into Spoons for a coffee, then thought we would stay in the garden for lunch! How crazy, two never ending coffees tuna mayo jacket potato and side salad and Mal’s steak and kidney pie……Total £6.33!!!

Mal watered both allotments and brought today’s goodies home….

Ellie woke me at 5 but we had already decided to walk her a little later and take her to a cool wood. We drove to Kearsney Abbey woods. 

It was lovely and cool and we even had a few spots of rain.

We then went to Lou and Rhys’s for another of Rhys’s delicious goat curry. He cooks it to perfection. Today Oscar was his commis chef and Ollie baked an apple cake! We spent the rest of the day in their garden.

We saw Tariq for a few minutes as he had just returned from Biaritz and he was taking his car and caravan to be cleaned. He brought me two bottles of Creme de Cassis back. He loves the trifle I make and that is what I use in it. I think there was a hint there!

Another early morning walk with Ellie. Later Mal and I drove to the farm shop in Ash.

We sat in the garden in the afternoon and then discovered our little frog at the end of the garden when we were doing the watering.

We don’t have a pond but he appears to live quite happily!

Another 5am walk with Ellie. On the way, through the cemetery, one of the baby seagulls was out scavenging. Well, he is not much of a baby anymore but he does squawk at his mum.

I wish they would stop putting Ramsgate beach on the news this morning. It means you won’t be able to move on the roads this weekend as they all come down from London! There are a lot more lovely beaches, not just Thanet! They are predicting temperatures of 37.

We spent the afternoon in the garden. Mal did go to the allotment to water. It was nice and cool in the house with the air con on.

Another early walk for Ellie and I and even at 5 am, she was panting. Maybe something to do with the squirrels she decided to chase! The sky was amazing.

And this is one for those of us who have been asked this question at interviews…..

I remember when I first moved to Kent I applied for a position at Canterbury City Council, Housing Dept and I really didn’t like the people who were interviewing me, so my reply to this question was “On a beach in Cyprus.” Sure enough I was! Never give up on your dreams. Instead at that time Canterbury Christ Church Uni decided I was employable!

I went shopping as the following day was supposed to be even hotter, so a quick visit.

Busy in the garden in the afternoon. So many tomatoes, we had some for lunch and these are just a few, I have seven plants!

And just how much pollen can one bee collect from my passion flowers?!

Ellie and I were up and out at 5am and went for a very long walk. A lot more dog walkers this time as obviously people knew it was going to be hot later in the day.

Lou, Rhys and the kids came round for a morning at the allotment.

Then it was back to ours for lunch.

Lou had some very good news, she has been accepted at Kent Uni.

We drove to Deal and walked to Walmer. It was hotter than we thought and our problem is we start walking and don’t realise just how far we have gone. A good thing we took plenty of water for Ellie.

We then went to the George and Dragon for lunch (another “Eat in” bargain!) I had dressed crab which was delicious and Mal had the fish and chips which was enormous and in fact worked out cheaper than the local chippie! We enjoyed our lunch out in the garden. Such a lovely day.
