We walked Ellie along the river, lots of dogs for her to play with today. What a nice community we live in, look what the volunteers have done! This is by the church in the town.

We went to the allotment in the afternoon.

The last week of Springwatch. I will miss it when it finishes. This has to be the best one so far.

We took Ellie down to Minnis, we try and take her there at least once a week and of course it depends on the tides.

We did wonder why “Civil Enforcement” was at the bay, it can’t have been to make sure we didn’t take dogs on the first part of the beach, anyway, there were so few of us down there because it was a very cold wind.

As we drove away from the bay, there were SIX fire engines and the emergency response at some flats but we didn’t see a fire.

I called into Tesco on the way home to get some garlic granules and fresh coriander. I have never used garlic granules before but had decided to make a Samosa pie and that is what the recipe asked for. When I have cooked a recipe once I usually adapt it anyway, but it was my first attempt.

On arriving home we had another letter from Scarlet, it is so lovely to hear from them after all this time.

Mal went to the allotment in the afternoon and I made my Samosa Pie, which Mal loved!

We went to Lou and Rhys’s and had a long dog walk along the sea front. We took Ellie but Roddy had a bad foot and was limping so he had to stay home.

Rhys as you can see from the picture, hates me taking photos! Like Mal he chooses to make weird faces!

We went back to their house and sat in the garden and had a lovely roast.

On the walk this morning we spotted a lovely duck mum who has still managed to keep her 14 ducklings!

We collected some elder flowers as our next brew is elder flower champagne! Now is the time to pick the flowers before the berries appear.

Down to the allotment, more weeding and I also watered the tender vegetables.

Back home to make the elder flower champagne. Because it is going to be fizzy it is better to use plastic bottles and a handy tip is to buy bottled water, use the water to make it and put the tops straight back on and they will be ready sterilized! 2 litres are only 17p in Aldi!

We did have a small amount of rain but not a lot.

I booked tickets for Paul Sinha for the 1st October at Theatre Royal but that has now been cancelled, so another refund to apply for! In fact they have rescheduled until September 2021. Who knows what we will be doing then, so a refund is in order.

We had a nice letter from Jack again. It was really good to hear what is happening in his life. We now feel we have been allowed a channel to communicate with them if they would like that, which is exactly what we have always wanted.

Oscar has done very well with his home schooling…..

In the evening Mal decided to walk down to Ossie’s for fish and chips.

It is organised with queues, a one way system and distancing but not so in the pub behind. It was raining and Mal said they just had all their customers inside!  It’s crazy no one seems to be doing what they should be doing or perhaps not really knowing what they should be doing!

What a difference a day makes! It was rather wild when we took Ellie to Minnis Bay, so jackets back on as the temperature must have dropped 10 degrees. Ellie is much livelier anyway when it is cooler.

After lunch back to the allotment, rain was forecast but nothing, so it was back to watering again and of course more weeding. Lettuce, broad beans and rhubarb to bring home.

Ellie didn’t move far from the compost bins. It was more than obvious something was in one of the bins. We do know there are slow worms in there.

I am really loving Springwatch this season. You learn things ,like… a stork chick has hatched in the UK for the first time in 600 years! Amazing.

Eight year old pictures came up on my Facebook in the morning. Lou and Rhys came to Kent camping and Torin surprised us by driving down with Scarlet and Jack. Rhys made a lovely BBQ and it must have been a rainy spring as I mentioned that it was dry when we had the BBQ. BUT I remember it was torrential rain all night, Rhys’s tent leaked (I think) and so they packed up in the middle of the night and he dumped the tent on the way home………he has never liked camping ever since! It certainly wasn’t a flaming June that year judging by all the jumpers and coats!

Mal and I walked Ellie, later today but it was quite humid.
